Located in L'Derry, Northern Ireland, Seagate's Springtown facility employs over 1,300 people involved in the development and manufacture of recording heads, which write information onto and read information from the recording disc inside a computer's hard drive.
IT SUPPORT ENGINEER Ref: ITE/123601
Reporting to the Factory & Desktop Support Manager, the successful applicant will be part of a large IT organization responsible for day-to-day support of IT Services at our
24x7 Wafer Manufacturing facility at Springtown.
This critical role provides 2nd level Factory support at the Springtown site, working alongside the existing 1st level IT Factory Technician team.
The primary responsibility is fast resolution of complex Factory issues, and filtering escalation of support activity to 3rd Level subject matter experts.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for motivated, ambitious professionals, seeking variety and challenge.
Key responsibilities include analysing critical factory issues that arise on production systems and leveraging formal methodologies to identify root cause, all within the context of a fast moving wafer manufacturing environment.
Other responsibilities include:
- Full ownership of factory critical issues from diagnosis through to resolution
- Leveraging of best in class problem resolution methodologies such as ITIL Service Management and Six Sigma
- Performing 2nd Level analysis of factory and desktop issues to identify trends and propose long term resolutions to problems
- The deployment and support for all in-house and vendor supplied software solutions
- Performance Monitoring of key customer services in the production environment
This position would suit IT professionals from any technical Hardware or Software background wanting to augment existing skills, or take the opportunity to change direction into an exciting technical career path. A comprehensive training and certification package

Applicants must possess at least a 2:2 Honours degree in a Computer Science related discipline combined with at least one year's relevant experience in an IT environment.
