Role

The Regional Lead - Procurement/Contract Management will report directly to the Regional Team Manager (Executive) and be responsible for the development of the procurement/contract management capability (both systems and resources) within the region. An integral part of this role is to provide guidance and support to the staff and contactors working on projects in the region on all aspects of procurement/contract management.
The Regional Lead - Procurement/Contract Management will assist with recruitment and induction processes, employee career development, and ensure adherence to the business and project systems and procedures at a regional level. The role requires an astute person with recognised procurement/contract administration experience and skills, well developed communication skills and the ability to positively influence, mentor and coach others.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the field of expertise is required, ideally working within the mining construction environment. Tertiary qualifications are advantageous however proven industry experience is of greater value.

Key Accountabilities

To lead the development of the procurement/contract management capability, both people and systems within the Delivery group for the specific region of the GMB.

To work with the Regional Team Manager (Executive) to mentor, guide and support team members of that capability group with the delivery of the capability service to projects and clients.

To conduct RYP discussions with members of that capability team in relation to developing their knowledge and skills in the specific capability.

To make recommendations to the Regional Team Manager (Executive) regarding an individual’s appointment to/or removal from the capability team or project team

Responsibilities

To assist the Regional Team Manager (Executive) and the General Manager Delivery Australia East to develop and maintain the systems and people resources necessary to provide procurement/contract management capability to the region(s) and to projects;

To advise the Regional Team Manager (Executive) on the application of resources to projects on a best-for-business basis;

To lead the start-up and establishment of new projects in the regions to ensure systems and standards are transferable between projects and across the region(s);

To develop the skills of the people resources in the delivery of that capability;

To participate in the recruitment process and provide recommendations to the Regional Team Manager (Executive);

To induct new staff and contractors with awareness of and familiarity with systems and process associated with that capability;

To be mobile across the region to undertake procurement/contract administration reviews and site audits;

To participate in 3 month probation reviews;

To coach and mentor team members and staff;

To provide technical leadership within the capability team and the region;

To advise in relation to development and management of individual capability team members’ career opportunities;

To attend career development interviews; and

To manage and grow capability networks and relationships
