You will join a dynamic, successful and rapidly growing team within the Department of Life Sciences, and will focus on the delivery of courses to both undergraduate and post graduate students, including students on our Foundation (extended four year degree) courses.
The Department of Life Sciences has an established portfolio of courses covering four main areas: Biomedical Science, Animal and Environmental Biology, Forensic Science and Chemistry, and Sport and Exercise Sciences. With a highly successful outcome from the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in 2008, where many of the papers submitted were deemed to be world leading (4*), the Department has a firmly established reputation for academic innovation and achievement. We provide popular and successful courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level for students who want an excellent, hands-on training in Biomedical Science. Our BSc and MSc Biomedical Science degrees are accredited by the Institute for Biomedical Science (IBMS), and our graduates in Biomedical Science currently enjoy a very high level of employment, both in hospital pathology laboratories, and in the wider Life Sciences research community.
You will have completed or nearly completed a PhD or professional doctorate and, you will also be expected to develop an internationally excellent portfolio of research. Applications are particularly welcome from individuals with proven specialist knowledge in microbiology, and/or in other areas of medical biotechnology.
