This post is fixed term for 12 months to cover maternity leave and full time. A secondment for existing University of Kent employees would be considered. Working as part of the administrative team in the English Office, this role is to provide support for the School Administration Manager in the areas of Financial Administration, Human Resource Management and office and building matters. Some support is given by the administrative team.

The Person The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, or equivalent work experience, and will have substantial experience of working in an administrative, secretarial or clerical role. You will need solid experience of financial procedures, including reconciling payments, processing invoices and tracking expenditure. You will have experience of staff management, with excellent communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. The post holder will need to be able to liaise with a range of people from students to senior management.

The Department The School of English currently has c. 850 full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate students. Its permanent academic staff of 28 includes an excellent cohort of highly promising and productive early career researchers alongside senior staff with international reputations.
