apetito’s Trowbridge Quality team takes responsibility for our factory which produces savoury meals and sweet puddings. The quality role is carried out to ensure compliance with the quality and HACCP manuals, the systems are challenged to ensure they are effective and any non conformances are investigated fully.

The QA role involves carrying out routine checks at the start and during the shift and also to carry out an auditing function based on GMP, Paperwork & Hygiene, Quality and Equipment other audits include glass & plastics, hygiene and engineering audits. Specialist checks on probes, swabbing and water testing is also carried out. This complexity ensures the role is varied and challenging and would suit an individual who wishes to build on existing experience within a food manufacturing environment.

For the right candidate, this will be a very exciting and varied role with the opportunity to learn about all aspects of Food Quality. The successful candidate will be highly motivated to learn new skills and take responsibility for all aspects of the Quality process. They will be a strong team player with a positive can do attitude but will also be able to work well under their own initiative, with good communication skills they will be able to work well with other internal departments ensuring that quality issues are dealt with effectively.

The QA technician will be supported in their role by the QA Supervisor and the rest of the Quality team. Full training will be provided where necessary.

KEY RESULT AREAS:
Carry out routine start up checks in all production areas on checkweighers, scales, date coding and sanitizers to ensure they are functioning correctly

To undertake more specialist checks such as probes checks, environmental swabbing and water testing to ensure compliance

To carry out food safety / HACCP related checks such as temperatures and metal detector checks

To carry out daily checks on GMP, Personal Hygiene & Paperwork, Quality and equipment in all factory areas

To carry out Glass & Plastic, Hygiene, Engineering & CCP audits as per audit matrix

To follow company rules with respect to personal hygiene

To follow company guide lines with respect to health & safety

To keep accurate and detailed records

THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will need to have a positive can do attitude and have a healthy interest in food and food safety and good communication skills. A key part of their role will be ensuring that other apetito departments are aware of the results of daily checks and audits checks, therefore they will also be liaising with all production staff and engineering on a daily basis and at times the laboratory, senior production management and all production departments.

QUALIFICATIONS :
Essential:
Able to read, write and speak English fluently

GCSE in Maths & English (or equivalent)

Foundation Level Food Hygiene

Desirable:
Level 2 Food Hygiene

Factory auditing or similar

Basic HACCP

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
Experience within a food manufacturing environment

Desirable:
Experience of working with a complex product range

Experience of food safety and quality systems.

Excel and word skills
