Materials Engineer – Composites (Graduate Opportunity)

Our client is the world's leading manufacturer of aircraft interior products and solutions, and the world's leading distributor of aerospace fasteners and consumables for the commercial business jet and military markets. An opportunity has now arisen for a Materials Engineer to join their team.

As a Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for researching, testing and the qualification of all materials employed in composite components designed in-house. You will co-ordinate with universities and external organisations to define and participate in research projects that advance the state of the art of the materials employed within our composite components.
Your other duties will include:
- Providing technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team and other multi-disciplinary teams
- Leading optimisation initiatives to bring about cost, weight and performance improvements
- Leading all mechanical testing trials and shop floor trials
- Developing and maintaining material specification documents and material registers
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a 3rd level qualification in a relevant discipline, such as materials, chemistry, engineering or another related field. Equally important, as a Materials Engineer, are your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Whilst not essential, any of the following would be of benefit: engineering experience within a manufacturing environment, a background in composites, chemistry, materials or engineering, project management experience (from initial research to implementation), familiarity with using Math CAD software and/or an aerospace certification or background.
