The Company:
Brookvent manufactures domestic ventilation products, and is currently redesigning a range of mechanical ventilation products for launch summer 2012.
Design Engineer
The Role:
Reporting to the Technical Manager you will be responsible for the detail design, development and testing of new and existing projects. You will be fluent in Solidworks and have strong experience in injection moulding, materials selection and general manufacturing techniques
The Duties:
Design and develop new products from concept to production sign off
Lead the validation of new products by sourcing prototypes and testing.
Working with new and existing suppliers to get accurate cost and lead-times
Manage the work-in-progress and current BOM’s
Work with production manager to ensure smooth transition into production.
Work within tight timescales to deliver projects on time and on budget.
Become an integral part of the team NPD review meetings.
Propose new ideas and solutions to further develop the product range.
Manage the VA/VE programme to reduce production costs.
The Person:
Preferably a BEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent subject)
Excellent team working and communication skills both written and oral
At least 1-2 years New Product Development using Solidworks
High level understanding of design-for-manufacture of injection moulded parts
Should be familiar with set-up and maintaining BOM’s in SAGE (Line 500)
Good understanding of electrical components, wiring diagrams, etc.
Experience of achieving deliverables against a New Product Development process
Fully conversant with MS Office applications.
Starting salary will be £20,000 - £25,000 dependant on experience.
