Tate Library was established in the 1950s, originally as a support department for the Gallery’s curatorial staff. Since then it has grown to become an international centre of excellence for art and historical research, thanks to a comprehensive collecting policy including a large international exchange programme for exhibition catalogues. The core of the Library’s collection, two-thirds of our holdings, comprises titles not held in any other library in the UK or North America. The Serials Librarian would be responsible for the collection management, promotion and acquisition of the Library’s serial, auction catalogue and electronic resources.
With a qualification in librarianship or related discipline or equivalent, you will also demonstrate experience of managing serial and electronic journal subscriptions and using automated library systems, employing Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules 2 (AACR2) and MARC. You’re no stranger to multi-tasking, highly computer literate and importantly provide a friendly and efficient service to all internal and external stakeholders.
