The Curriculum Area of Engineering forms part of the Llanelli Faculty which comprises the following Curriculum Areas A Levels & Access; Computing; Public Services; Foundation; Creative Industries; Sport, Leisure & Tourism and Engineering.
Engineering delivers a diverse range of programmes on two campuses:- Graig and Pibwrlwyd, based around electrical/electronic and mechanical engineering, welding and fabrication, and motor vehicle technology. Additionally, a large number of learners undertake Faculty programmes purely within the workplace. Programmes range from school linked 14-19 initiatives up to and including Honours Degree programmes.
The main purpose of the post is to contribute to all engineering programmes at the Graig Campus and to in-company courses in local industry. As well as general engineering subjects such as mathematics for technicians, the Electrical and Electronic Engineering based subjects may include, but will not be restricted to: Electrical and Electronic Principles, Digital and Analogue Electronics & Communications, Instrumentation, Control Theory, Mechatronics, Programmable Logic Controllers, Motors, Drives and Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electronic Production and Testing, Electronic Products Management, C Programming, Embedded Systems, Electronic Design and Simulation and Electrical and Electronic Projects. In addition the postholder will contribute to essential and key skills development and elements of the Welsh Baccalaureate.
