The role of the Design Engineer will be based in Portsmouth. The successful candidate will prepare Alteration & Addition Ship Weapon System Engineering (SWSE) proposal drawings (Installation Solutions and Statements of Work) for both internal (Surface Ships) and external (MoD and Industry) customers; provide technical liaison for queries raised by Ship repair and other business areas; provide Fault Diagnostics and Solutions when requested by waterfront support sections of BAE Systems Surface Ships and Commercial Shipyards.
As a Design Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
Production of Installation Solutions and Statements of Work for all areas of SWSE.
Liaising and provision of advice to both MoD and Industry customers in the development of Statements of Requirements.
Provide a commissioning and test and trials service including the presentation for Installation, Harbour and Sea Trials Acceptance when contracted to do so.
Undertake equipment surveys and feasibility studies for both internal (Surface Ships) and external (MoD and Industry) customers.
Provide a lead in completing Design tasks.
As a Design Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
NC in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
HNC in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
Recognised Apprenticeship in a Naval Combat System Engineering discipline.
AutoCAD, can train
Microsoft Office
Familiarity and / or knowledge of Combat Systems and / or Ship Weapon Systems
In depth knowledge of Electronic systems theory.
System Drawings to MOD standards
Experience of maintaining or installation of combat systems equipments.
Familiarity with installation standards documentation.
