Duties & Responsibilities

The duties of the position of Customer Technical Solutions Engineer include but are not limited to:
Adopt and maintain a strong, ever-present and overriding culture of safety in all facets ofprofessional activities and actively help manage and promote Oceaneering’s HSE policies and practices.
Work with the Sales Accounts Group, engage with strategic customers in discussions as early as possible to identify actual customer needs.
Provide a minimum, basic technical understanding of strategic customers’ needs and specifications.
Compile and update guideline documents for ‘best practice’ approach in bidding and working with strategic customers.
Based on Customer needs, develop designs and concepts that leverage the strength of current Oceaneering design practices and manufacturing capabilities.
Perform work on Engineering Studies, FEED Studies and any other pre-ITT Client engagement work as needed.
Implement lean design techniques to reduce cost of umbilical and hardware designs.
Perform basic supporting design calculations to verify umbilical and hardware designs.
Assist the customer in selecting the optimal design and influence the ITT as appropriate.
Proactively assist Proposal Engineers to convert the conceptual designs into a detailed design.
Review and understand the technical specifications and commercial terms and conditions (Ts&Cs) provided by Clients.
Incorporate relevant information from Process Engineering and Manufacturing into bid designs, work with those groups when a new or modified process is required to meet design requirements
Assist in the identification of new processes/equipment and the development of acceptance criteria for existing and new manufacturing processes/equipment.
Proactively participate in the Sales Handover Meetings (HOM) following contract award.
Support and enforce the local Intellectual Property (IP) Management in accordance with Oceaneering policies.
Produce Engineering reports, technical papers and bulletins.
Provide Technical Support to all other Departments as required.
Provide input to the Testing, Qualification and Reliability group according to key Client feedback.
Participatein CQI projects and events as required.
Assist Sales and Marketing as required.
Present OII, Subsea Products and Umbilical Solutions scope and capabilities with Clients as requested.
Participate in the development of industry standards and in technical committees, as directed.
Travel overseas and domestically as necessary.
Be personally accountable and responsible for all aspects of the duties outlined in this Job Description.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate college or university degree in an Engineering discipline, or physical science as well as proven experience in a similar role. A strong candidate with a non-degree qualification will be considered for this position, provided they can demonstrate relevant experience in a similar role.
A strong Sales Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering background is desirable. As is experience of developing technical documentation for proposals and sales and familiarity of pipeline, flowline or umbilical installation work and testing.
