Ocado is seeking a Contract Project Manager to take responsibility for the management and implementation of the software for automation projects for 6 months in Ocado's Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC/Warehouse). The existing facility in Hatfield is responsible for picking, packing and dispatching over 1 million items a day to online customers across the UK.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Managing multiple (usually 2-4) software projects concurrently through the full project lifecycle.
Tracking project budgets.
Building and running a project team (normally 2-5 developers per project) with resources leased from the CFC software area managers.
Managing IT hardware delivery.
Analysing requirements and designing software solutions which meet these requirements in co-operation with the CFC Software area managers.
Developing project plans and tracking progress of development against agreed targets.
Managing the implementation, testing and go-live stages of the project.
Developing test plans for the various stages outlined in the methodology. Undertake, track and resolve issues identified during testing within the timescales of the testing phase.
Developing testing and implementation plans and seeing that these are carried out.
Adapting and developing the internal methodology for IT projects.
Tracking issues and risks and identifying solutions where appropriate.
Liaising with the Logistics Development team on project requirements.
Managing the relationship between internal IT departments and external contractors, both on and off-site.
Checking and negotiating the IT aspects of any contracts with any external contractors.This role relates to managing projects on a yet to be confirmed second Ocado site. Consequently travel between the head office and this new site will be required.
The role may require foreign travel to visit contractor sites as well as "on call" style work in the evenings and weekends during implementation periods. Key Skills:
Proven leadership and analytical abilities.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they have worked on and managed projects through the full development lifecycle.
Experience working on software development projects.
Knowledge of SQL and its use in analysing data from relational databases is essential.
Ability to interact with developers and technical leads in a technical manner.
Strong technical background.
Degree background or equivalent.
Experience of working with warehouse systems and controlling projects in warehouse/industrial type environments would be an advantage.
Experience in system design and development would be an advantage.
Previous development/programming experience would be advantageous. Salary: £500 a day inclusive
