Networks Engineer (Shift Based) £30K
Reporting to: Senior Networks Engineer & Studley Team Leader
Location : Studley, Warwickshire
Role Purpose and Description
Our client is looking for an organised and skilled Network Engineer to work in its Studely based Managed Data Networks Team. This will be an involved and challenging role with significant opportunity for skills development. You will be working with a mix of network technologies based on both Cisco and Juniper hardware.
The position is based at their Studley facility and suits a person with previous ISP or mission critical experience, excellent general competencies, good telephone manner with an interest to learn. Good face to face meeting skills and professional mannerisms are essential as there is also a requirement to participate in customer meetings to provide technical input. It is desirable, though not essential, to have recognised certification or qualifications such as CCNA and experience of supporting business critical environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide technical network resource to the busy Managed Data team. Key roles and responsibilities include:

• Ownership of internal and customer faults
• Troubleshoot errors and identify root cause
• Work with the Operations team to ensure faults are managed as needed
• Work on projects as identified by the business
• Compliance with Company information security polices and procedures, reporting incidents and ensuring necessary security procedures or activities are completed

Required Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Aptitude)
Essential

• Proven ability to operate in pressurised situations and successfully handle multiple priorities
• Flexibility and strong customer-service focus as well as a demonstrable technical aptitude and willingness to pick up and develop new skills
• Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP (both IPv4 and IPv6), GRE, IPSEC, PPP and HSRP
• xDSL and Fault Management
• Routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
• Ability to work with autonomy
• Experience with Cisco and Juniper routers, switches and firewalls
• Experience working with MPLS

Desirable

• Cisco or Juniper certification, or relevant experience
• Datacentre operations such as power systems, cooling and cabling
