About The Role
Templink Supervised Children Contact Worker Pool
Sandwell MBC has an ‘inhouse’, Children’s Assessment and Contact Centre. We are seeking a number of reliable, flexible and committed Supervised Children Contact Workers to undertake supervised contacts within the centre and in the community at various locations. Workers need to be able to work various days and hours including weekends.
The Contact Worker role will involve the principal responsibilities and activties mentioned below.
Applicants should have 1years experience of working with children and families and have a Qualification to NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or Child care or the equivalent is required.
The role will involve transporting children and therefore applicants must have a full driving licence, access to a car and be insured for business use.
N ote: that an Enhanced CRB Disclosure Check is required for this type of temporary assignment.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
Supervising contact between looked after children and their families
Establishing a rapport and engaging with families and children
Objectively observing interaction between them
Being prepared to negotiate with families in difficult situations to achieve a calm environment
Being available to supervise contact in the daytime, early evenings and/or weekends
During contact, promoting appropriate care of the child and appropriate play, suitable to the child’s age
Able to work on ones own initiative
Transporting children to and from supervised contact venues
Writing clear and objective reports, which could form part of the assessment for court proceedings, following each supervised contact session
Attending court to give evidence in specific cases, as required
Liaising closely with the Centre manager, coordinators and the child/children’s Social Worker to ensure effective communication of information
Taking part in relevant training and staff development events revelant to the temporary assignment.
Working in line with the policies and procedures of Sandwell and legislative requirements.
