Position Title: Implementation (Consulting) Analyst
Purpose of Role:
Sitting within the Barrie & Hibbert consultancy team, the implementation analyst will play a key role in delivering Barrie & Hibbert products and services through well defined client projects. Reporting to a Senior Consultant, the successful candidate will provide software development expertise throughout the project life cycle, helping to specify client requirements, communicate them internally, develop bespoke applications and support the client in the installation and configuration phase.
This role provides a unique opportunity for an experienced software engineer to apply their skills in a client focused, consultancy environment, or for an experienced implementation consultant to join a small but growing team at an exciting time.
Key Duties:
- Working with clients and senior team members to understand project and product requirements.
- Providing detailed technical specifications of client requirements and working with colleagues to deliver to them.
- Creating pragmatic solutions using existing applications and techniques, as well as developing new ones where necessary.
- Delivering a high quality work, often to very tight timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configuring and developing client specific solutions to meet their requirements.
- Specifying the technical details of these solutions.
- Assisting with scoping projects and writing proposals.
- Working on projects until successful completion.
- Ensuring work follows accepted quality procedures and the high standards of B+H models and methodologies are maintained, setting new standards where they are deemed necessary.
- Communicating project progress and any issues to lead consultants, working with them to ensure projects are delivered on time and are profitable.
- Liaising with product management and software development to understand new consulting opportunities that will arise in new markets with new products, and feeding market experience back into the business.
- Providing development support to others in the team and support and mentor newer team members to ensure they can become effective quickly.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong experience developing in a variety of different languages, c# .net preferred, experience with Windows Workflow Foundation an advantage.
- A proven track record of delivery of technical solutions, preferably in a consultancy/service delivery role.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically.
- Ability to multi-task effectively.
- Ability to build and deliver pragmatic solutions, quickly and to a high level of quality.
- Candidates with project management and/or business analysis experience are particularly encouraged.
- Some understanding of the life insurance market and the challenges faced in the light of Solvency II would be advantageous.
- Exposure to the B&H ESG and its calibration, tools and techniques useful.
Qualifications:
- First degree with possibly a post-graduate qualification PHD, MSc in a relevant technical discipline.
