The successful candidate will work on a number of important projects involving

Playing a part in the development and maintenance of client facing web-based products. Technologies utilised within these tools encompass Java, JavaScript (AJAX, JQuery), ORACLE and ESRI (GIS).

Playing a part in the development and maintenance of the SalesForce.com platform utilising tools such as Force.com, Visualforce, APEX and Cast Iron

Involvement from a development perspective in any number of additional projects e.g. client facing product developments and internal system improvements.

Provision of second line support for the entire Wood Mackenzie product suite to both internal and external clients

This is a demanding role requiring a candidate who can

Demonstrate good communication skills as this role is within the global development team (predominately UK based) so developing close working relationships with team members is paramount to success

Demonstrate a track record in continuous improvement with regards to furthering their knowledge and career

Work closely with colleagues to deliver high quality applications, enhancements and support services

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to help ensure that the Technology team continues to provide excellent standards of service delivery

Ensure that standards are rigorously applied, and further developed where appropriate

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

A formalised and structured education in software development and implementation is essential for this role.

Knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas is critical to the success in the role

Java (Web development)

JavaScript / AJAX/ JQuery

XML/XSLT/HTML/CSS

Oracle PL/SQL

Force.com

SQL*Server T-SQL/ORACLE PL/SQL

MS Office software development

Knowledge of the Energy or Mining industries would be of benefit within the role.
