An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cloud Automation Consultant to join a dynamic blue chip organisation based in Huntingdon initially then relocating to Peterborough within 4 months.
As a Cloud Automation Consultant you will be responsible for writing scripts or code to automate systems in the client's cloud. You will define automation of 'runbook' processes which have been defined by operational staff. These automated procedures will be used to run unattended management, provisioning and lifecycle operations for customers, launched either by SOC administrators or directly by clients through a self-service web portal.
As a Cloud Automation Consultant your main responsibilities will include:
- Writing scripts or code to automate lifecycle operations in the client's cloud
- Recommend the use of tools to reduce manual operations
- Work with colleagues to profile and optimise common operations
- Deploy solutions to production and test environments
- Produce high quality systems documents
- Contributing to team meetings
The successful Cloud Automation Consultant MUST posses the below experience and skills:
- Experience with scripting languages and automation frameworks such as Powershell, Perl, Python, .NET, Java, shell scripting
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Experience with REST or other web APIs such as SOAP/WSDL
- Quality documentation, or self-documenting automation
- Experience with version control and code repository
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable although not essential:
- Experience as a cloud computing automation/orchestration engineer
- Understanding of modern infrastructure platforms such as VMware vSphere, NetApp FAS, Microsoft Windows
- Understanding of enterprise networks
- Familiarity with cloud orchestration products and frameworks such as VMware vCloud Director, OpenStack, Cloud.com Cloudstack, Chef, Puppet
- Familiarity with ITIL, or ITIL certification
