We are currently recruiting for a Technical Clerk/Engineers Administrative Assistant to work at Connahs Quay Power Station.
Role
The role of the Technical Clerk/Engineers Administrative Assistant is to provide full administrative assistance to Engineers working at power station locations. To ensure that the office is run smoothly and efficiently ensuring that all reports and databases are kept in order and up to date. Clerks are required at the following Power Station locations: Ferrybridge, West Burton, Cottam, Fiddlers Ferry, Rugeley and Connah's Quay
Duties
The main duties are:
- To be actively involved in the preparation and maintenance of office records, quality plans and safety systems.
- To receive both internal and external calls from customers, completing requested tasks or passing messages to the appropriate person.
- Liaison between the working location, the Inspection Management Office, contractors and the Customer to ensure that all information is processed and up to date.
- Assist with the movement of contractors and equipment between the working location, and other power stations.
- Process contractor time sheets, allocating cost codes, checking costings and interface with admin support in the Inspection Management group to ensure all time sheets are received
- Compile summary figures regarding contractor hours and days worked.
- Obtain all NDT contractors PCN and safety documentation, validate and enter into a database which must be kept up to date.
- Work with the Lead Engineer at the working location to compile local Work Plans. It is then the assistant's responsibility to keep this up to date.
- Assemble interim and final NDT reports. As work is done the assistant is to help with the completion of progress reports logging all work done at every stage of the job. A good knowledge of drawing packages is essential.
Key Skills
- Numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data information and produce it in a logical form.
- PC skills are essential which includes a good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. They should also be familiar with Explorer and be able to keep files in order.
- The candidate should also have drawing package skills, preferably in Word, PaintShop Pro or PowerPoint with the ability to produce accurate drawings and sketches to an acceptable standard. The use of Microsoft Access would also be useful but not essential.
- An ability to prioritise and organise workload to meet deadlines.
- The ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise reports and correspondence.
- A high regard for confidentiality is essential and should be maintained throughout the programme of work.
- Accuracy of all work produced is essential at all times.
Previous experience within a Technical Clerks role not essential but highly advantageous. Experience within a strong administrative role essential.
