Reports to: Centre Manager
Hours: 24 hours per month - 8 hours each week on a Tuesday or Thursday, over 2 days. These hours will increase for specific periods such as preparation for financial year end.
Salary: £12.50 - £17.00 dependent upon experience.
Background:
Relate Northamptonshire is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. We currently have a staff of 29 consisting of management, administration and sessionally paid practitioners.
As a financial book-keeper, your main role is to keep an official track of company income and spending to ensure an accurate trail of all the transactions.
There is a trainee accounts clerk to support this role who is responsible for general data entry onto Sage, the processing of sales invoices, receipts and payments and checking transactions against company bank statements.
Key responsibilities:
- Payroll
- Balancing the accounts
- Checking company bank statements against income and expenditure
- Various management reports including the preparation of the monthly income and expenditure, analysis of counsellor salaries, budget cash flow etc.
- Financial paperwork and filing
- Prepare the profit and loss sheets for the annual accounts
Essential skills:
- Excellent working knowledge of computer systems including Sage and Microsoft Excel
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work quickly and accurately and to work to monthly deadlines
- Ability to supervise a junior member of staff
- To be honest, discreet and trustworthy
- An understanding and commitment of equality issues
- Ideally, you will be qualified as an accounting technician with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or equivalent.
