In 2011, the City of London Police developed a business case outlining the need to improve the capacity and capability of the national policing response to fraud. In January 2012, agreement was reached by the Association of Chief Police Officers to: design and implement a new 'National Standardised Fraud Framework' that will involve revising investigative standards for the reporting and investigation of fraud, and training and accreditation standards across law enforcement and industry; and to place additional Regional Fraud Teams across the UK that will proactively tackle the threat from serious and organised fraud, as well as providing additional support to forces during times of austerity.

As a result, the Force is seeking to recruit a project team whose main responsibility will be the design and national implementation of the new 'National Standardised Fraud Framework' and to develop a national coordination plan to initiate and direct the design, construction and placement of each Regional Fraud Team across England and Wales.
