The University of Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (UoSCTU) is based at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (Southampton General Hospital). We manage a portfolio of high quality multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice, and we are closely linked with the MRC Clinical Trials Unit, London.
The rich research environment in Southampton includes the Cancer Research UK Clinical Centre, Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, two NIHR Biomedical Research Units, a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility and strong NHS R&D Management.
We have a vacancy for a part time Quality and Regulatory Assistant, to support the Quality and Regulatory Team in maintaining and developing the UoSCTU’s quality and regulatory systems. Tasks will include: liaison with internal and external research teams; tracking, reporting and filing of quality, contractual and safety documents; and setting up new systems to complement those already in place. Successful applicants will be educated to a minimum of ‘A’ level (or equivalent) ideally with experience of a clinical trials environment. You will have good IT skills, be competent using Microsoft Office, particularly in design and use of spreadsheets, and be familiar with computer databases. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as are high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
The position is available on a 0.5 FTE (possible increase to 0.6FTE ) on a fixed term contract until 30 September 2013 in the first instance. Days of working MUST include Fridays, other working days will be negotiable and discussed at interview stage, but WILL NOT include Wednesdays. The starting salary will be dependent upon experience.
