We are seeking to recruit an experienced Software Development Manager to oversee the activities of a team of highly skilled Software Engineers within our Software as a Service business.
The successful candidate will effectively manage the day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth and timely delivery of concurrent software projects from the conceptual design stage through to delivery. We seek a management style that exhibits integrity, collaboration, flexibility and a result-orientation. The ability to work effectively across functions and services while striving for continuous organizational improvement is essential, as are strong organizational and communication skills.
To serve as point person and lead a team in the development of a range of ATG applications – responsible for delivering functionality on time, with solid quality.
Responsible for team management to include work assignment, mentoring, evaluation of developer abilities, reviews and hiring.
Sufficient technical strength to contribute to product definition, scoping, feasibility of designs, estimates of development time and cost.
To conduct code reviews and promote ATG best practice coding standards Help develop and manage the project plan; focus and drive the team to deliver on requirements
Ability to communicate effectively across the company with peers and upper management to resource and oversee projects which fit the product roadmap.
Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
At least 10 years industry experience in software development for software product companies
Min 3 years managing or leading a software product development team
A sound understanding of software architecture and implementation. A background in Java/J2EE and web applications would be an advantage.
Component software design
Solid software engineering habits: unit testing, continuous integration, code reviews
Experience with the Agile software development methodologies
Proven project management abilities including estimation, scheduling, and tracking
Self-motivated with strong leadership ability, excellent organizational and communication skills
A proven track record of working in a managed service environment (SAAS, ASP, ISP).
Experience working with enterprise class systems
The job demands a capacity for sustained work so that all the necessary phases from specification through to implementation can be completed within a demanding time frame.
Although the job is based in Belfast, there may be opportunity for some travel to other Oracle locations or customer sites
