Petrofac is currently seeking to recruit an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for our Mechanical Services division. The position will be based in our offices in Aberdeen or Glasgow.

Role: Providing Instrumentation & Controls expertise to the PMS team in order to ensure all rotating machinery is maintained in line with good engineering practice and company procedure.

Responsibilities:
This role is considered to be one that is important to the success of PMS operations and will involve attendance at both onshore and offshore locations. Overseas short term assignments can also be expected. The incumbent will have responsibility for the technical support of PMS operations and repair of associated Instrumentation &

Control systems utilized by major rotating equipment packages. The following list of duties will include but is not limited to:

Primarily to provide technical support for the performance of all aspects of Rotating Equipment care and maintenance, assist in the analysis of technical problems, propose solutions and monitor / manage implementation of corrective actions within PMS contracts
Provide technical support to new projects through review of design documents and specifications to ensure good operating practice and expertise is incorporated. Witness Factory Acceptance Tests
Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis where required
Contribute machinery input on such issues as developing turnaround worklists, supporting Reliability Centered Maintenance and other Process Safeguarding Management initiatives
When requested, provide immediate support to breakdowns that are outwith the resources of on site personnel. This requires being flexible to undertake tasks at short notice and modify work plans accordingly
Provision of close support and supervision of onshore repairs. Ensuring when work is carried out by an onshore contractor, a detailed scope of work is produced, and that the work is let to a competent contractor. All scopes of work will be monitored and controlled maintaining a close liaison with relevant site management personnel
Maintaining a close link with onsite personnel and responsibility for providing a timely response to all requests for support and technical guidance. In addition, provision of site visits as required and in accordance with agreed contract rates
Assurance of appropriate technical assistance and guidance outwith company expertise i.e. availability of assistance from the appropriate sub-contract organization
Provision of occasional technical support to onsite personnel on a 24/7 basis
Provide solid technical reports on the cases where required
Comply with Company and legislative QHSE guidelines

Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor of Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree, HNC or equivalent with experience in Instrumentation & Controls of major rotating equipment (gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, alternators/generators, large electrical A.C. motors, etc)
PLCs, DCSs, Safety System and controllers
Familiar with different international standards (API, ISO, ANSI, ISA, etc) applicable to the Instrumentation & Control rotating equipment and their ancillary systems
Have a good understanding of relevant offshore regulations applicable to the operations of major rotating equipment (hydrocarbon gas compression and power generation) in the North Sea
Have a solid understanding and experience on gas turbine fuel gas systems, electrical/pneumatic & hydraulic gas turbine starting systems, centrifugal compressors anti-surge systems, rotating equipment vibration monitoring and protection systems, power generation load management systems, etc. Understanding of centrifugal hydrocarbon gas compressor Dry Gas Seal and Wet Seal systems and their control philosophy highly desirable
Installation and commissioning of new, reconditioned and upgraded gas turbines packages and their auxiliary equipment including: Control, Instruments, Fuel, Steam and water injection systems, low emission combustion systems and condition monitoring systems
Have participated at design reviews and HAZOP studies and SIL assessment
Reviewing supplier information to ensure satisfactory FAT of equipment
Writing of specification and requirements documents for equipment
Have good experience in using various computerised office applications
Must be fluent in reading, writing and speaking English language
