In partnership with its client Cpl N.I. Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced Systems Engineer for a permanent role based in Belfast.
The Client
This is an exciting job opportunity for an experienced Windows Systems Engineer to work with a leading software company based in Belfast. The client is establishing a new team in Belfast and are keen to recruit a team of specialist Systems Engineers who are specialists within Windows technologies.
Job Role:
The Windows Systems Engineer's role is to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions. The Systems Engineer's will play a core part in this new team and will have the following responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, plans and implements IT system solutions including development and support of moderately complex IT systems, and modifications to existing systems.
- Monitors system performance and capacity, and reports changes in usage.
- Forecasts system demand, recommends upgrades, expansion, and reconfiguration.
- Troubleshoots software and hardware problems, takes appropriate corrective actions and/or interacts with IT staff or vendors in performing testing, support, and troubleshooting functions.
- Participates in site set-up, user training, software/hardware installation, maintenance and support, and documentation of hardware/software logs and operating procedures.
- Performs basic user administration (adds, changes, deletes, disk space management, backups and file restores).
- Documents standards and operating procedures, and acts as a technical resource to the IT staff and systems users.
- Consults on technical issues, identifies and escalates risks and issues
- Adopts and embraces a process improvement approach within the project
- Contributes to innovation and LIT’s organization change initiatives
- Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional development
Experience and skill set requirements:
- At least 2 years recent relevant postgraduate experience
- A B.Sc. or equivalent in Computer Science or a related discipline and experience in systems operation and administration, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Knowledge of the operating environment including mainframe, midrange, desktop, server, network data, voice, messaging, web, database, and output/receiving.
- Knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies.
- Delivery of solutions to tasks on schedule and to expectations
- Ability to follow standards and process
- Ability to analyze existing systems in the context of business needs and determine how to refine/repair/refactor them as appropriate
- Manage and prioritize workload effectively
- Communicate and present effectively
- Establish customer relationships
- Integrate and balance big picture concerns with day to day activities
