Sainsbury’s Travel Money is recruiting for Travel Money Advisors with responsibility for buying and selling foreign currency to customers within the store.

Driven by a passion for delivering the best customer service, you’ll welcome customers and engage with them about their travel plans, offering expert advice on travel money to help get their holidays off to a great start. You’ll promote our travel money products: Cash Passport and Travellers Cheques and will enjoy achieving and exceeding targets.

To thrive at Sainsbury’s Travel Money you will need drive, determination and resourcefulness. The role is varied: you’ll follow procedures to minimise risk and protect assets, balance tills, manage stock control and maintain a professional shop appearance.

You’ll take an active part in building relationships within the supermarket and in promoting Sainsbury’s Travel Money to shoppers in store with announcements and leaflets.

We are open 7 days a week. Monday-Friday the earliest shift starts at 8:30 and the latest finish is 20:00. Saturday the earliest is 8:30 and the latest 19:00 and Sunday the earliest is 10:00 and the latest 17:00. During the winter months, the opening hours may be reduced. The shift operates on a rotation basis and will include weekends. We need people who are flexible with the hours they can work to take on additional hours if colleagues are on leave or help is required in neighboring stores. (Expenses are paid for traveling to other stores).

A free uniform is supplied. You can also benefit from a discounted staff canteen.

Induction training is comprehensive and coaching is ongoing. We offer the opportunity to study for a NVQ level 2 in Customer Services. There are prospects for developing your career throughout the Travelex group.

Our salary is £6.15 - £6.50 per hour (depending on experience). With our incentive scheme, you can earn even more. If successful, you will be contracted for a set number of hours per week and your salary is paid monthly. Any additional hours worked in excess of your contracted hours will be paid a month in arrears.

Knowledge and Skills

This varied role will draw on your customer service, selling, communication, attention to detail and numeracy skills.

Ideally, you’ll have a retail, sales or customer service background. Experience working with foreign currencies is not essential, as full training will be provided.

Successful candidates must pass a numeracy test, be able to provide a 5-year checkable history, plus pass credit and criminal record checks.
