The Physiotherapy service is looking for a suitably experienced individual to join our very supportive team.
The post-holder will be supporting the Physiotherapists providing services to the trauma orthopaedic patients. Your main role will be assessing and treating patients who have experienced fractured hips requiring surgical intervention. As a technician you will need to be competent in managing your own caseload of patients from first assessment to arranging discharge or ongoing treatment plans. There may be opportunities to work in other areas. You will report directly to the senior Orthopaedic Physiotherapist. You will work with Physiotherapy staff, students and other members of the MDT.
You will have good written and spoken English and experience working with the general public. You will have experience of working as a therapy assistant with orthopaedic patients. Previous experience working in the NHS would be helpful.
You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills and be able to prioritise your work. Computer skills are essential - training in local systems will be provided. You will be a team player and flexible.
Applicants must be physically fit as the work will require moving and handling skills, for which training is provided, in addition to walking and standing for long periods and assisting patients with stair mobility. After training the post-holder must also be able to assist in emergency resuscitation procedures.
