Job purpose:
Will be responsible for the commercialization and delivery of products to market that position the company as a leader in the Medical Device/Product industry.
Will ensure that products are launched on time and meet established goals and objectives that support the financial and competitive goals of the organisation.

Principal Accountabilities:
Uses leadership to ensure that cross functional resources are assigned and held accountable for task and outcome completion
Under general supervision, makes decisions affecting project budgets, assignment/alignment of resources, project execution and customer relations.
May influence product designs and choice of raw materials, processes and equipment necessary to develop and manufacture products.
May be asked to work as part of a team for a new product introduction or other types of development project.
To provide cover as required for other engineers within the group.
To adhere to the companys procedures as detailed in the SOP manual (ensuring compliance to FDA, MDD, etc. to design control regulations).
Provide a world-class service to customers, both within and without R&D.
Introduce new technology and methodology as appropriate to increase the effectiveness of the business.

Internal And External Relationships:
Internal relationships:- R&D Management Team, R&D Staff Worldwide, Marketing Staff, Development Services Staff, Quality, Regulatory and Clinical staff, Sales Representatives, Customer Services Manager & Staff, Production Managers & Engineers, Personnel

External relationships:- Surgeons and hospital Staff, Universities and External R&D Groups, Patent Agents/Attorneys.

Qualifications , Experience and Special Aptitudes:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering with 18 months experience in a relevant technical area. MSc or PhD in a relevant scientific subject is advantageous but not critical.
3-5 years product development experience as an individual contributor in the medical devices or related field. Medical implant, instrument and technology design experience preferred.
Good communication skills with people at all levels.
Mentally strong to handle the demands of a focused product development group.
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity and apply project management skills which result in meeting project goals and objectives.
Will handle several projects concurrently depending in the magnitude of each.
Will meet delivery promise in terms of budget and timescales.
Should work within a small team of the R&D Development Group.
Effectively utilize both written and oral communication formats when making presentations resulting in the obtainment of overall company goals and objectives
Effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Build effective interdependent partnering relationships.
Demonstrate and integrate the SOL into all business practices and activities.
Incumbent knows, understands, incorporates and complies with all applicable laws and regulations relating to company business activities and Policies and Procedures of the Health Care Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
Provides competitive and business analysis to the WW Business Team to aid in developing the program and project strategies.
Actively involved with design surgeons and customers aligned with new product development project.
Uses interdependent partnering for developing relationships for appropriate regulatory, marketing, clinical, testing, manufacturing and prototyping resources and support.

In addition:
Ability to establishes and manages timelines, milestones, tasks and deliverables as part of project planning.
Ability to track project budget with components that include human resources, prototypes, suppliers, and general expenses to meet established return on investments per project.
Actively addresses offensive and defensive infringement and patent protection as it applies to projects.
Can identify risk and contingency plans as part of the project management role.
