Team Lead, Architect, Java, High Frequency, Low Latency,
Algorithmic Trading

trading team as they expand from FX into Credit, Fixed Income and
Commodities.
Team:
Entirely focused on high frequency, low latency, algorithmic
trading
They provide all hedging and pricing for the top five global
investment bank's flagship FX platform
They have expanded into other areas (Credit, Fixed Income,
Commodities), and this hire will be driving the cross-asset roadmap
and development
The bank has won numerous awards in Foreign Exchange, ranging from
E-commerce to complex derivatives and particularly for its
market-leading trading platform. The business has embarked on a
multi-year programme to establish their FX business as the number
one FX bank - and is investing huge amounts of money
Role:
This hire will be responsible for driving the architecture and
roadmap, running the development life cycle, and mentoring/training
the team beneath them
They will still be hands-on & coding alongside this - the
precise amount will depend on the candidate, and how they manage
the above
This is essentially a replacement for the current incumbent as he
steps up and spreads out - and will see the hire heading up all
Java developers in the team (c.5 to begin with)
Based on the trade floor
Constant interaction with traders and quants (& the whole
team, traders & quants & developers, go out socially at
least once a week)
Technical Requirements:
Very strong Java, very strong Multithreading - they will need to
pass the same interviews as the developers in the team (they have a
very high bar)
Need to understand the performance aspect of threading for high
throughput systems
Very beneficial will be relevant etrading/algo skills and
technologies - low latency, high frequency, exchange
connectivity
Knowledge of tick databases, ideally KDB and q, would be a nice to
have
Other Requirements:
Management/leadership - experience of leading a small team of
highly motivated developers (eg 1-5)
Genuinely excellent communication skills - will work very closely
with traders and quants (and the head of the desk sometimes comes
up with his own design ideas so you will need to be able to push
back on this in the right way if necessary!)
Ability to translate business requirements into design
specifications
Relevant etrading/algo trading experience would give a big
edge
FX experience would be ideal
Knowledge of exchange connectivity (ideally within the FX markets
eg EBS, Currenex, etc.) would be fantastic
The ideal candidate for this role will be someone leading a small
team in FX, or someone leading another small etrading/algo team -
but they are open to excellent candidates from virtually any walk
of life. All strong Java leaders are encouraged to apply.
