Digital Graphics team are part of the Digital Identity team within Brand Experience Design. BExD is a horizontal group of teams within Nokia Design. The team is located in Espoo and London. The core responsibility of DI is a) Iconography unification and coherency across devices, services and eco-systems design b) delivery and curation of Visual Metaphors c) designing, delivering and curating Digital Content across all UX platforms d) sound design and e) Digital Identity Forwards (expanding area), initiating and driving studies that enable strategic concepting.
Main Responsibility Areas
The Iconography Design Specialist will be expected to design and lead iconography related work undertaken by the DI Graphics team. The position requires active involvement in defining the Nokia Iconography direction through the delivery of digital assets, art direction, guidelines and vision.
Responsible for creating and originating new styles of iconography, hand crafting artwork to build a recognisable and original visual language.
Capable of creating and managing a competitive scalable iconography design system which successfully works across all of Nokia's digital and non digital touch-points. Ensuring all iconography created is consistent and aligns to broader Nokia branded digital identity language. Ensuring all work created focus on the consumer experience and not technical restrictions. In-depth knowledge of different markets interpretation of metaphorical signs and symbols, integrating and contributing to industry standards.
Works with design partners across the UX Platforms and Services ensuring interdependent ways of working that deliver cohesive solutions but also challenge and provoke when appropriate.
Able to collaborate with technical groups to successfully implement design direction, able to communicate ideas both written and verbally to co-develop successful solutions which overcome any platform or technical restrictions.
Excellent digital illustration skills - vector and pixel based style for screen.
Excellent digital design skills - designing for screen and interaction.
Good graphic design skills - colour, typography, layout, composition and visual storytelling.
Motion graphics skills - time based animation and behaviours beneficial not essential.
Possess a good understanding of consumer focused design and user experience.
Understand how global consumers interpret symbols and apply knowledge to solutions.
Participates in global consumer research and able to interpret results.
Strong art direction skills of illustration and photography.
Ability to mentor and lead junior members of team.
Demonstrate creative guidance and critique work with an attention to detail.
Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
Demonstrate a broad perspective of the whole portfolio while delivering to the focused objectives of each project or delivery mechanism.
Ability to interpret and align to Nokia Design and Nokia processes.

Represents Digital Identity Design for internal and external facing projects.
BA/MA Graphic/Communication/Interaction/Illustration Design or related qualification.
Experience in creative direction, art direction or senior design level.
Expert in the area of iconography, more than one area, broad perspective.
Background in one of the following disciplines and processes of Interaction Design, New Media, Graphic Design and Digital illustration experience.
