A global player in the media space is looking for an experience Android developer to work an initial 3-6 months contract and there is easily over a year's worth of work. Obviously depending on daily rate and skills this will also have a bearing on how long you are initially offered. The role is based in Berlin, Germany, but what's great is you'll be working remotely from home with weekly travel to client site (candidate skill driven).
There are numerous projects to take advantage of and on completion of any project during your employment you will then be parachuted onto another project. There are a number of apps being put together on Android. Some apps are being developed; some apps have been released and are now leading into the second phase of conception to deployment. The company itself range from broadcast/marketing/sales.
They are looking to offer start dates in September/November and December, preferably as soon as possible naturally. If you are a self-motivated engineer with experience in developing consumer applications for the Android, then this is the role for you.
You'll need proven end-to-end experience in designing and coding mobile application and passionate about delivering the best user experience possible.
Essential Skills:
Android NDK development with C and C++
Extensive experience with multithreaded programming and object-oriented design
Good knowledge of design patterns and anti-patterns
Social network integration; Facebook, Twitter
CMS, Streaming, and APi
Extensive experience with all the aspects of Android UI
Deep knowledge of background services, receivers, loaders, fragments, C2DM
Solid experience of Java (3+ years)
Experience with JSON/XML and interfacing with server side HTTP based API's
Strong experience optimizing code for performance
AIDL (Android Interface Definition Language)
Able to speak German is also desirable but not compulsory
