British Army
British Army (Current Employee), British Army Infantry regimant – June 14, 2013
Pros: team commitment & loyalty
Cons: away from family for long periods of time
My dailly tasks depend on where in the country/world i am serving and also on the tasks asked of me from senior officers. We do everything from security (UK & Abroad) through to close protection. We are disciplined individuals that have to work well as a team but also work individually under pressure.

Exceptional environment, exceptional co-workers
UK - Store Associate (Cashier) (Former Employee), Milldenhall, Suffolk – June 10, 2013
Pros: to be in constant contact to the public which i enjoy very much
Cons: security procedures before i could get to work every day
I was as cashier in constant direct contact with customers, dealing with purchases, returns, movie rental, petrol refueling having to check for different forms of ID and documents, like ration cards, etc.
I have learned allot about retailing and customer service.
The management was good, and the co-workers were great.
The only downfall was all the security – more... procedures before i could get into work.
I have enjoyed every part of my job. – less

Pros: visiting places, work in a diffrent atmosphere, covering your mates, courageous
Cons: away from home, fear for your lives and others
I join the British army from my own country because I was striving hard to get a reliable income and was fortunate to move to a new country.

Challenging and satisfying position
Satellite Communications Non-Commissioned Officer (Current Employee), Ft Bragg, NC; Kuwait; Oman; Iraq; Ft Gordon, GA – November 3, 2012
Pros: there was always something new to learn and get involved with.
Cons: spent two of the last four years in the middle east.
As a Communications Non-Commissioned Officer I have had the opportunity to work in the full spectrum of communications over the course of five years and two deployments. I enjoyed being tasked with difficult assignments with tight deadlines and high standards. My level of responsibility often exceeded that normally expected of junior non-commissioned – more... officers. For example, I was hand picked to lead a team to Oman on a system I had relatively little experience and no formal training on, the Command Post Node. I also had the responsibility of managing the logistics and administrative portions of the mission. This exercise proved to be a challenging experience I came to relish. With the Army I have never had a shortage of learning experiences and challenges. – less

It was great work experience and life changing.
Platoon leader (Former Employee), World wide – July 20, 2012
Pros: great management skills.
Cons: pay wasn't that great.
The U.S Army was a life changing opportunity and i learned a lot of skills. As a platoon leader I had to have great people skills and great management skills.
The hardest par about this job was the separation from family. The most enjoyable part about being in the army was the people dealing with diffrent people and being part of something big.

Petroleum Supply Specialist (Former Employee), Fort Lee, VA – June 17, 2013
Pros: college tuition fully paid for and free housing
Cons: the threat of war
The military is what you make it for the most part. There is a lot of traveling involved and the benefits are 100% for active duty soldiers. The medical package can not be match by any employer in the world. The job security is nothing you will ever have to worry about.

A SOLDIER'S LIFE
Generator Mechanic (Former Employee), Fort Hood, TX – June 17, 2013
Pros: being able to serve my country, for freedom.
Cons: being away from family.
I COULD NOT EVER WRITE ABOUT MY ENTIRE ARMY LIFE, BUT I WILL SAY THAT I FOUND MYSELF WHILE SERVING MY COUNTRY.
I WAS MORE SELFLESS THAN I THOUGHT I WAS EVER CAPABLE OF, I WOULD LEAVE ANYTHING I WAS DOING TO HELP ANYONE AND I WAS HAPPY TO KNOW THAT I COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE NO MATTER HOW SMALL IT WAS.
TRAINING WAS THE HARDEST PART FOR ME DURING MY TIME – more... IN THE MILITARY, IT WAS WELL WORTH IT THOUGH BECAUSE IT MADE REAL LIFE DECISIONS EASIER AND MORE REASONABLE TO MAKE. I COULD REACT QUICKLY TO CRITICAL SITUATIONS AND MAKE A PLAN TO EXECUTE IT TACTICALLY.
I MET A LOT OF AMAZING PEOPLE, SOME OF WHOM I AM STILL VERY CLOSE TO NOW.
GOD BLESS AMERICA. – less

exciting and educational
combat medic (Former Employee), Fort Polk, LA – June 17, 2013
Pros: excitment and travel
Cons: losing friends
I worked at the sick call clinic taking care of sick soldiers. I checked them in then did vital signs. I worked the patient up completely then informed the PA of what that patient was complaining of. The PA would write the prescribtions and iI would deliver it to the soldier. I was always learning something new. Management was a very useful chain of – more... comand. My co-workers were my battle buddies. The hardest part of the job was treating soldiers after their return from deployment. The most enjoyable part was traveling, meeting new people, and getting to further my education at the same time. – less

Rewarding supervisor experience from watching subordinates grow
Retired (Former Employee), Fort Huachuca, AZ – June 17, 2013
Pros: traveling allowed me to meet new cultures, and see parts of the world that i wouldn't normally have seen.
Cons: a lot of deployments, temporary duty assignments that kept me away from home a lot
* A lot of meetings.

* How to manage time, and how to get my Soldiers motivated to perform at their best.

* The military has some excellent leaders, and they have some really bad leaders. I learned how to work with both.

* Co-workers were for the most part professionals.

* Leaving my family alone for long combat deployments.

* Finding and fixing – more... the enemy so that the Infantry could go in and kill them. – less

Strenuous and demanding, but it was also rewarding.
CADET (Former Employee), United States Military Academy at West Point – June 17, 2013
Pros: no commuting, job security, pride and satisfaction
Cons: very little time off, physically demanding, inflexible
A typical day starts at 6:30am and does not end until you go to sleep. The days are long and full of classes, physical training, and assignments. Cadets must manage 20 credit hours worth of classes a semester while also engaging in physical training, military responsibilities, and athletics. The academy is cadet run and every cadet is required to possess – more... an extremely developed sense of personal responsibility. The hardest part of being a cadet are the summers where we receive our assignments and then go out to conduct field training, lead in active duty units, or attend military specialty training schools such as the airborne and air assault schools. I say again: It was strenuous and demanding, but also rewarding. – less
