Not appreciated. Under paid, to competitive
Travel Adviser (Former Employee), Teesside – June 10, 2013
Pros: great customers great holidays
Cons: the hierarchy, the wages, to competitive.
Having worked for thomson for 4 years I left due to being under appreciated by managers, other colleagues felt the same. Their is a hierarchy and if your part time you are the bottom of the pecking scale. I never got one educational in the 4 years where are full timers got 3 or 4. Staff were stealing booking. Ripping off customers left right and centre – more... and this is normal practice. And they are supposed to be a "family friendly" company but when my son was diagnosed with a heart condition and I needed time off for appointments it was refused int blank. The managers do nothing but dictate and reap the rewards. And it is like rules upon rules no nail varnish etc its bordering ridiculous. If you don't mind being part of a strict working environment where you're not allowed to talk to other staff members, and progression is hard unless you are prepared to suck up to managers, then thomson may be for you, but there are many unhappy staff members who moan but have no choice but to stay there...good luck your gonna need it. – less

Not for Everyone
Entertainments Manager (Current Employee), Rhodes, Greece – May 28, 2013
Pros: accommodation and food
Cons: long hours, low support, unorganisation
Daytime Entertainment runs from 10-4pm and Evening Entertainment is from 7pm til midnight. Inbetween hours you would be setting up and preparing and as a Manager you would also need to allocate time outside those hours to organise as much as you can in both the office and outside.
Learnt alot about management, co-workers were likeable people, the hardest – more... part about the job is the hours, and if you aren't a heavy drinker the work/life balance isn't great, however the most enjoyable part of the job is the guests and the interaction and friends you make. – less

Same routine daily
Foreign exchange cashier (Former Employee), lakeside – March 6, 2013
Pros: holiday concessions
Cons: no time for lunch breaks and not at all flrxible with hours
A typical day at Tui travel would be opening and counting till in the morning, reading any Head office updates.
Opening shop and serving customers, hopefully upselling products when appropriate, ordering currency for any orders due in.
At the end of the day I would balance both travel banking and foreign exchange banking and close up shop. The most enjoyable – more... part of the job was dealing with the public, I had a really good rapore with many of them and had regular customers. The hardest part of the job was the constant change in management, each one trying to bring in new ways of doing things before finding out that the best way was how we had it originally. We had a good core team who worked really well, hitting targets when we were left to get on with our jobs. – less

Busy Workplace
Travel Advisor (Former Employee), Redruth – January 21, 2013
Pros: concession for holidays
Cons: salary, location
A typical day at work involves meeting and greeting lots of different customers, trying to find them a holiday which suits their needs and if they want to book making sure they are satisfied with the holiday they have chosen.
I have learnt alot over the years i have been there like all the different systems we need to use, all about the different holidays – more... you can go on and what types of holidays suits certain people.
I get on really well with my co-workers they range from all ages but are very easy to get along with.
The hardest part of my job is not being able to find a holiday that suits a customer and they really want to book something but its out of their budget.
Best part of my job is meeting lots of different people and making someone's day when booking the holiday of their dreams. – less

great exoerince
children's rep (Current Employee), overseas – October 27, 2012
As a children's rep overseas everyday is different and then again everyweek is differet too due to change over days. I've gained alot from this job in means of experince within childcare and also life experinces too. The mangement within tui travel are amazing in terms of understanding how that everyone is different and needs to be mangered differently. – more... My manger has been very supportive of her team and readwards our had work! It is hard working and living with the same people for six months and you do have your differences but you quickly learn to overcome them. I would say the hardest part of the job is making sure all you guest have an excellent hoilday as is not easy to please everyone! The whole job its self is enjoyable and it is an amazing experince too!! – less

Experience of a life-time.
Overseas Holiday Advisor (Former Employee), Menorca – September 25, 2012
I worked in Menorca as an Overseas Holiday Advisor. It was a fantastic experience and i'm glad that i had the opporunity. My typical day would of been making sure i had organised myself with all the correct paperwork so that my customers would of got all the information they needed to make the most of the holiday.

I would set up a room ready for my – more... welcome meeting and public speak up to 150 quests at a time. I was the local expert of the area so i delivered excellent customer service and made sure customers had everything they needed. If customers had any problems. I was empowered to resolve any issues.

It was myself and my colleague that helped the day to day running of the hotel and made sure that customers holidays were extra special.

My manager was fantastic and gave us all the support we needed.

I really enjoyed what i did out there and when customers thanked me for all my help, it gave me great job satisfaction.

The job role was 247 and if i wasnt in the hotel. I was at home organising paperwork and leaflets for 150+ guests a week.

The hardest part of the job was being away from my partner and i had to cut my job opportunity short when he had a near fatal road traffic accident and i returned home.

It was a fantastic job and i thrived in it. I delivered excellent customer service and i was awarded marks of being 2nd on the island for customer service and given 88% in customers feedback. – less

A fun workplace
Tourleader/Nature Guide (Former Employee), San Jose, Costa Rica – September 7, 2012
Pros: always new things to learn, free food, free hotel stays
Cons: not very much work there for me......
I had a very nice time working for Tui, at HotelBeds, located in San Jose Costa Rica. I guided Dutch and Belgium guests in Costa Rica on short tours (8-10 days) and worked on a freelance base.
They always treated me very nice when I came to the office to report on my tour when finished; and before going on a next tour, I was given all necessary information, – more... complete information and verly clear paperwork to fill out.
When I would need assistance during an unexpected issue, there was always back-up: 24 hours of the day I was abe to reach someone from HotelBeds, on a special phone number.
What I very much enjoyed as well in this job, is that the tours varied and so, I learned more about the country every time I was on tour. I also really enjoy interacting with people, trying to give them the best holiday experience possible.
The downpoint was that I did not get a lot of work and I had to call the office often, to find out if there would be a new job for me. – less

Overseas at Tui
holiday advisor/entertainer (Former Employee), overseas – May 21, 2012
Pros: overseas, accomadation, food included, can move within the company
Cons: long hours, poor pay
Days are incredibly long, and you are always at work and on call as you are based in staff accomiodation.I did two roles whilst working for the company as a holiday advisor and entertainer and there is opportunities to change roles if you fancy a change the company is failrly flexible..
Your customer service skills have to be second to none as you have – more... a lot of customer complaints as a holiday advisor and sales to hit.As an entertainer you have to be a performer and have performance skills (dancing singing etc)this is a massivly fun job and you have to be happy all the time in front of guests. The pay isn't great but you do it for love.
However you get to see the world and the job is fun.I learned so much from my time there independance, what it means to be part of a team and it gave me lots of confidence.
You live and work with your collegues so you have to be independant and get used to moving around and meeting new people every six months as people can generally only manage the job for a year or two.As you literally live out of a suitcase.
Loads of prks included and you do get consesions and to do trips on your day off.(depending on your manager)
Hardest part of the job is the hours as you work day and night, constantly target driven, you have to exeed your targets and hit your sales.
I left as I wanted to settle down with my partner and live in the uk. – less

Childrens Rep/ Whizz KId Leader (Current Employee), France, Majorca and Turkey – May 6, 2012
Pros: we get discount in restsurants on excursions, coach transfers, free ski hire, accomodaton and food.
Cons: being away from family, friends.
A typical day at work is to meet and greet parents and make sure the children have all the equipment they need for the day all children get signed in by the parents, we do activities all day which include arts and crafts, games, construction and an outdoor activity. We either have supervisors, kids rep in charge, team leaders and area/resort manager – more... they are always on hand to help ue when we need them. The hardest part of the job is that it is not in the UK and im away from my friends and family although it is very rewarding as i get to do excursions such as boat trips, white water rafting and in the winters i get to spend my time snowboarding. – less

Brilliant place to work! Excellent social environment
Customer support (Current Employee), Luton – June 13, 2013
Iv'e started in the past month and I must say what a brilliant company. I'm employed in the head office & TUI along with the management do their up most to ensure their is a brilliant vibrant atmosphere & as everyone is quite young is a brilliant social environment. Their is opportunities to progress your career if you stick with TUI. The management – more... are always open for you to go & have a chat with they really make you feel at ease about anything and make you feel like you can talk to them about any situation you're placed in. The benefits open to TUI employees are brilliant, the holidays and flights on offer to employees are so cheap I'm restricted from disclosing any more information on that front! I'd say the hardest part of the job is the annoyed customers but your team will help you let off steam which is brilliant! DO NOT MISS THE CHANCE TO WORK FOR THIS COMPANY IF YOU GET THE CHANCE!!!! – less

het leuke van het werken bij Tui is dat je 2 x per jaar de bestemmingen van de aangeboden reizen moet controleren dmv een studiereis.
