Working day review
Senior sales (Current Employee), Rutherglen Glasgow – April 2, 2013
Pros: a great management team who constantly strive to develop and train everyone.
Cons: low basic wages.
I am used to an early start, some of our stores open at 7.30 am to suit the tradesman who likes an early start.

Each day has different tasks from tiling an entire wall to processing 12 tonnes of stock onto shelfs and to set locations within our warehouses.

We deal with high volumes of customers and tradesmen and always maximise our opportunity to – more... make the best of every sale. – less

challenging retail enviroment
Store manager (Current Employee), Scarborough – February 18, 2013
Cons: long working hours
all aspects of the day to day running of the store are the shared responsibility of the store and assistant manager. The man hours available in each store are very tight meaning often people are lone working in the store for periods of time if not all day, especially during times of holidays or sickness.
There is a good camaraderie within each Area – more... Business Manager area of the business but the down side of this is that it also creates a segregation atmosphere, almost splitting the company into a number of separate companies – less

Company that does not care about there staff
Assistant manager (Former Employee), yorkshire – January 1, 2013
Cons: blood, sweat and tears.
I learned a hell of a lot working for topps tiles...A typical day was opening the store, sorting out staff, customer orders, serving customers....just typical sales assistant duties,2 days a week we had deliveries so had them to sort out,as a company nothing was ever good enough for them, even though you worked really hard every quarter you still lost your – more... quarterly bonus just for failing a mystery shop that last 10 minutes,no matter how much money you take its never good enough cos you did not enough tile adhesive or tools or grout so basically as a company they do do not care about there staff all they care about is money, money, money and they do not think twice about sacking you no matter how long you have worked for them or how loyal you are to them or no matter how hard you worked for them, over petty silly little things if they want rid of you take it from me you will go. – less

Great place to improve personal skills
Store Manager (Current Employee), Braintree – October 13, 2012
Pros: self development
Cons: long days (with 1 hour travel each end of the day)
An overview of Topps Tiles is that they offer you with a great understanding of managing your own store as if it were your own business.
I have been given fanatastic opportunities to develop myself in terms of coaching, developing and managing. This has been given to me with various training courses (in house) along with modules that I have completed.
At – more... Topps Tiles, their main objective is to ensure that they as a retailer offer a Platinum Service to all their customers which is my favourite part of my job. – less

assistant manager (Current Employee), borehamwood – June 24, 2012
Pros: people
Cons: long hours
a very hands on job with this employer from ordering stock to putting on the shelves, managing KPIs and colleagues. To adapt to change in the styles and peoples taste. Most enjoyable part of the job is dealing with the general public on a daily basis.
