An enjoyable environment to work in
Customer Assistant Hardlines (Former Employee), Wells – May 16, 2013
Pros: good pay and welcoming atmosphere
Cons: hard work at times
Working for Tesco was a very enjoyable job as the staff were friendly and my I enjoyed my job role. Being able to assist customers with their needs was very satisfying. I learned about how businesses like Tesco work and that training is very necessary for a place like Tesco. My co-workers were always very pleasant and welcoming, which made the job better.

Great colleagues, business culture is not conducive to well motivated staff.
Customer Assistant (Former Employee), Gloucestershire – May 16, 2013
Pros: training and development scheme
Cons: business priorities
Staff are well integrated.
Training and equipment given is adequate.
Business priorities conflict with other policies, particularly food hygiene and health and safety.
Standards varied depending on managers that were present and the number of customers that were in store.

productive and fun work place
Customer Assistant (Current Employee), Glynneath – May 13, 2013
Pros: staff discount, close to home (walking distance)
Cons: i'm not contracted for many hours and there is rarely overtime available.
A typical day at work will be fast paced, somewhat busy and have a friendly atmosphere. Since working at Tesco Express i have learnt team work, diversity of skills and i have enhanced my communication skills with collegues and the public. The management team are all very friendly, hardworking and will help out whenever the situation arises. My co-workers – more... all work to the best of their abilities and are a lovely group of people. The hardest part of the job is when you have to deal with an irate customer. the most enjoyable part of the job is when you have a customer who takes an interest in you and becomes a friend as well as a customer. – less

Tesco as a place to work
Pharmacy Technician (Current Employee), Driffield, East Yorkshire – May 13, 2013
Pros: great benefits package
I have enjoyed by time working or Tesco, it has been good whilst my children were younger as the hours were flexible and suited my needs.
I have no complaints with either salary of the great benefits package.
I have learned a great deal during my time working for them. I have got on well with my co-workers in the past and still do with most of them, – more... however changes have been made recently which I have found incredibly difficult to deal with.
I love the job that I do and dealing with regular customers/patients and have built up some good relationships with them. – less

Admin Customer Assistant (Current Employee), Southfields, London – May 11, 2013
A very good place to work with. A very well known brand with mix of culture and values. Offers good benefits and support to employees through training and validation.
The hardest and most enjoyable part of the job is satisfying customers, identifying their needs and offering services to them

life of a dotcom driver
dotcom (Current Employee), buckinhamshire – May 10, 2013
Pros: getting out of the way
Cons: stupidly long waits between drives
kids as managers who have never done the jobs or actually have a driving licence, vans are never loaded having to work bank holidays even if you say you can't work they phone you up and tell you you have to work.unsociable hours.Only good thing is that you get to go out on the road.If you need the work and actually pass the driving assessment but thats – more... a big if as its 1 in 20 that pass its not a bad job as long as you ain't planning on staying too long.If your a tesco person and you live breathe and dream socialize with tesco "as they want everyone to be" you can go a long way. – less

Pros: co-workers
Cons: long hours
Typical day at work for me is hourly checks of shop floor, toilets, cafe's, and all other parts of the store. Attending spills, use of cleaning machinary and other tools.

General assistant (Former Employee), Havering – May 9, 2013
working in a store like tesco was eye opening to how enjoyable work could really be. Everyone i worked with was polite and enthusiastic, helpful when needed. The hardest part of my job would have been the conditions in which we had to work in, your job becomes difficult when to many people are around how ever the best part of my job was the satisfaction – more... you get after completing a task well. – less

Fresh Food & Checkout Customer Assistant (Former Employee), Glasgow – May 8, 2013
A typical day at Tesco would be stocking shelves with fresh food such as ready meals, dairy, meat, chicken and fruit juices. I also regularly worked on the checkouts serving customers. I learned a lot working at Tesco, I had lots of training within many fields of work such as; Age related sales, Safety in the workplace, Fire evacuation, Fresh food hygiene – more... & handling. Management and co-workers were lovely and they were a pleasure to work with! The hardest part of the job would be when you have to work within a deadline. This was rare when we had to rush to get the job done but I kept things different and offered more challenging work. By far the most enjoyable part of the job would simply being satisfied with the work and assistance you have given to the customers and your co-workings. – less

Customer Assistant (Current Employee), Checkouts – May 7, 2013
Pros: staff benefits, location, wage.
Cons: not enough contracted hours available.
It was at Tesco where I found my confidence in able to talk to others with ease, conversing with customers and my colleagues at a respectable level. I have stepped in as Team Leader which gave me a range of advanced skills in how the business works, and also worked on other departments voluntarily. Colleagues are easy to talk to and approach if there – more... is an issue, with respect at both ends to be able to resolve the issue at question. After five years of working here, I do not believe it holds the opportunities for the skills I wish to possess, nor the career path I wish to follow. – less
