i would arrive at the building site at 09:00 and be given a different job every day by a different member of staff, i learned a lot about the construction industry and it also guided me towards my career choice.

On my current project I work with a great bunch of people where we have a laugh and joke. It's a fun place to work

My day starts at 8 or 9am dependant on shift tha week. Its start with collecting print figures from all printers, collecting milk for both staff and trades fridges followed by general admin work and security clearances.

The hardest jobs – more... some times is getting the security forms completed correctly by trades and staff to work on site.

I enjoy mixing with all the staf and trades on site makes it worthwhile really. – less

very good safe work site with skanska. management always telling about safety things through tool box talks. hardest part of the job is trial holes for electrical cables. most enjoyable part of the job is backfilling with dumpers.

liked the job working with the subs i learned how to replacing gas mains and butt fusion, electron fusion,replacing and connecting services

its a little slow with these guys not too many highway jobs but they do haul roads for mines in the southwest US that pays pretty good

Enjoyed participating in projects form beginning to end. Great feeling to look at what you built.

I would do safety meetings, plain out the traffic direction place the flagger's where needed, move light plants, give brakes, check for safety essues, stock water, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. Code time sheets, fill out take 5's for safety and other paper work. Leard to operate roller, a lot about safety, paper work, dangers on a surface mining, and – more... much more. Managing was a great job learned that it is hard to keep everybody happy, sometimes you just have to make decisions that work for the job and don't take anything personal, do the job to the best of my ablitiy and ask for advise from other management personal. Very much ejoyed the people I worked with they where helpful considerate and kind. The hard part for me was not given a chance to learn other equipment. Great company to work for with a great management structure as well as great group of employees. Very large company, with limited opportunity for speedy advancement. Due to the company being so large, there were some oversights and lost opportunities for career advancement.

Global company. Sometimes a good thing, sometimes not so good. Atmosphere of it's not what you know, but who you know.

An overview of my days were full of supporting Project Executive, Group Vice Presidents, Sr. Vice Presidents all the way up to the Executive Vice Presidents, CFOs and CEOs. The top level executives called upon me when they were visiting our office. Others called upon me on a daily basis.

In addition to executive support I had office manager responsibilities, – more... supervision of receptionist/admin support, participated in the Mentor Program, meeting coordinator for 3 conference rooms, event coordinator, executive dinners, managing the office budget, coordination of office space. – less

10-12 Hours per night, Started each day by inspecting crane for daily crane report, Learned to operate in the night with little or no vision of where a load was using voice commands over radio aswell as with hand signals when visible. Hardest part of Job was working with people who knew nothing about crane operations, or hand signals

I wish I had never been laid off from this company. they have great benifits, and good pay. They also treat you like family, and everyone is pretty much equal over all.

The company is huge and that is very evident however, with that in mind there are huge differences between the different regions, management styles, building programs and so forth. If you are ego driven individuals that has to work for a top 10 firm in order to feel good then they are for you. But be careful in what region you work in. The southwest – more... region is very different and upper management really needs to be over hauled. The over all building program is ran on the fly. Personal relationship and supporting the field with the right management style is key to success this is non existent coupled with the lack of well seasoned well rounded well refined qualified leadership. I would work anywhere but in the southwest region. This would be a last resort. – less

Skanska could do a better job with their diversity efforts. The company talks a good game, I would challenge their practice.

Not a fun place to work but they do have a ping pong table.....

Skanska is truly a unique workplace. I had the pleasure to work with visionary senior management who trusted me in every aspect of my work. As a result the team and I accelerated and delivered beyond expectations!

A typical day at work for me was very busy, on my feet the whole day, and I learned how to patch holes on concrete barriers and also how to pour and finish concrete. My co-workers were awesome and very helpful. The hardest part of the job was pulling so much concrete by hand.

The most enjoyable part of the job was when I got to interact and learn new – more... concepts of finishing and mixing concrete in a timely manner. The management was great, there were never any problems with building cleanliness and organization. – less
