build scaffolds busy stay busy, love it. learning procedures . co workers are great folks very helpful. hard part of job is staying on for year around. most of older employees replaced by younger men. so if you have senority. It don't mean anything, like the friendly enviroment, The VPP standards ,

EVERYTHING ABOUT WORKING FOR SHAW WAS ENJOYABLE, EVEN THE HARD JOBS. MY SUPERVISORS AND COWORKERS WERE VERY HANDS ON AND HELPFUL AS WELL AS CARING.

A typical day at work for me was stress free, though long hours, worth the money. My co workers were very pleasant, helpful, and great team players. Over all working in the nuclear industry was an amazing experience.

I participated in the NCCER apprentense program and received me journeyman card. I also received my certification in Fiber Optics and participated in safety committee.

Assist in various tasks such review/edit letters, file and serve documents to the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board and screen phone calls for two defense workers' compensation attorneys.

Management is great. I have the chance to learn differents jobs and I stay with the one that pays better. the only thing that I didnt like was the summer because I work at the dye house and we use steam so it gets very hot, like 100F

i enjoyed working there the only problem was everybody wanted to tell you what to do

A typical day at work: Daily Notification Reports, document processing, distribution, document requests to fill, document filing (electronic and hard copy) most of the day.
Management: very helpful, understanding and friendly.
Co-workers were pleasant.
Hardest part of the job: Extremely challenging at times, multitasking to stay on top of all activities.

first natural gas burning power plant,.so i learned alot...i hooked on 90ton grove everyday.. we unloaded truck bringing material to the job site,,,,loaded material on flat beds to be taken the unit to stage in proper area un til erected or set....I love my job as a rigger(hook on man)..

It is a great company to work for, great people, however not very stable environment It is working shut down so the job only last a few months. It is very strict on safety which is great its a nuclear plant! I had to lift up to 50lbs, carry tools, work 60-80hrs a week. I loved working with my team we built scaffold and tore it down when finished. I – more... was then transferred to another section after scaffold finished, called Confined space and FME after our jobs had finished. I loved my new team also. It was much easier we just kept logs of the engineers doing their jobs. – less

A typical day at work ranges from 14 to 18 hours. I learned quit a bit about rigging. How to align, level, and anchor machinery. Also, control movement of heavy equipment through confined spaces using cranes, hoists and other equipment. And attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare for moving, using hand and power tools. The management was – more... good to work for. They wanted us to do a good job, but most of all to be safe while doing it. My co-workers were supportive team players which made the work a lot easier. My day usually starts out with receiving permits from operations and filling out a Job Safety analysis for. Next I inspect all my tools and equipment that will be used to carry out my task. After all this is done it is now time to start my work and carry out my task according to code and procedure. My daily task generally include fitting pipe, welding – more... structure and supports, demolition of old mechanical equipment and pipe as well as the installation of new equipment and pipe. – less

Issueing tools in and out all day and consumables.As well as welding rods and welding consumales.
That all people are different and dealing with different personalitys.
They were helpfull.
They were very helpfull and great to work with.
Getting consumables on time befor I ran out to keep my min max in order.

most days were very hot but busy setting up form boards and removing them, lots of safety meetings and breaks to rehydrate. the management was helpful and attentive. i did not have a lot of contact with co-workers. the hardest part was dealing with the heat. the most enjoyable part was the pay.

We work 5x10's typically, but there are time the job requires more days & hours from us. Day starts at 6:30 am with a safety meeting. After we fill out our J.S.A. (Job Site Assessment) of job scope, potential hazards, and how to prevent these hazards. Receiving, unloading trucks, stocking materials, staging for jobs to come and getting material to the – more... workers in the field of whatever is needed. If it is not on hand then is ordered. Slow days there is general work we do around the yard.
I have been there for a year and have tried to better myself learning as much as I can. Since I have been there I have been certified on a forklift, common & 5 ton Gl45, learned to read ISO's, Certified Man lift Operator, Boiler Maker Helper, many other skills as well as what I was originally hired in as a pipe fitters helper. I just wanted to learn & do more. Hardest part of the job are the pipe racks in Houston Heat. Best part are the Management & Co-workers. – less
