like working for the devil
customer service officer/customer advisor (Former Employee), east anglia – June 14, 2013
Pros: good luck finding one
Cons: no money paid for overtime, multiple unrealistic targets to hit, management have no clue just a hapless bunch of overpaid clowns, very unlikely to receive bonus have to jump through hoops and roll over.
i worked for RBS for four years being pushed from pillar to post, With no place for career development.

work colleagues were un-interesting people who fought for something over you.

management could not organise a barn dance in a barn, you were pushed from pillar to post i do not drive and i was expected to travel two - three hours a day on a train – more... to cover when i arrived at location i was not expected or needed. – less

Communications Analyst
o Communications Analyst (Former Employee), Edinburgh, SCT – June 11, 2013
Pros: banking is a great industry to work in, my collegues were all hard working and friendly
Cons: everyone works so hard in banks, it's such a pity that they have such a poor reputation.
30 years employment has given me invaluable skills, I know working life inside out within banking and can meet any challenges.

I had a final happy year within a formal communications team after developing my skills in other roles.

We translated the Executive thoughts and directions into usable communications to employees using a variety of channels.

I've – more... enjoyed seeing Comms from both sides and ensuring that outputs were relevant and interesting.

Communications is a profession where one can really help employees. I'd like to continue writing efffective Comms in another organisation. – less

A nice place to work
Customer Service Officer (Current Employee), Parklands, Bolton – April 6, 2013
Pros: nice staff
A day at my work is non-stop we strive to give great Customer Service and we keep the customer at the heart of everything we do. I have learnt alot from my work from building work skills, from working in a group to being the best at serving the customer in the right manner. My co-workers are fantastic as we have built a great team over the years and – more... this makes the job more enjoyable. The hardest part is being the best but that is the challenge we have. – less

Shocking place to work
Banking Hall Coordinator (Former Employee), Lanarkshire – March 11, 2013
Pros: no pros
Cons: long unpaid hours, no christmas bonuses, no profit share, no preferrential rates on mortgages/loans/savings
Typical day at work is being shouted at by angry customers for the state the bank is in. most of the banking work is self taught as it is virtually impossible to get away from front counted/banking hall to complete course, due to staff shortages. Management is like the blind leading the blind in some branches. Not one of the Branches up and down the – more... country sing from the same Hymm sheet. The hardest part of the job is staying pausitive for the customers when you know you are understaffed constantly, you dont know if/when your getting your lunch break, what time of night you are getting out. What events in your life you will have to postpone as you cant get your Flexi you have already worked for. Not getting the holidays you want.... not doing the specific job you are meant to do. False promises made by your managers regarding the job you have applied for. The lies told by varies Managers and up the line. Shocking Kitchen/toilet facilities within the branches. – less

productive workplace
Customer Advisor, PPI admin (Former Employee), Bristol – March 5, 2013
Pros: commutable, friendly staff, good canteen
Cons: repetative work, can be mundane, pigeon holed
I was with RBS for 10 months and worked in the loan information team. WE used back office systems to find customer data and send relevant data to the customer. It was very target orientated and repetitive but manageable. In that I mean they are understanding if there are fair reasons for not hitting target. I enjoyed working there, the place is upbeat.

Day
Fraud Investigator (Current Employee), Southend on sea – February 5, 2013
Pros: the job
Cons: salary
I like my Job role as a Fraud Investigator and all that the Job entails.
I have learned the importance of customer focus, and knowing the correct procedures in your job role.
The importance of treating customers fairly.
the management overall is good but coming from a management background find that certain things are frustrating as I can see easier – more... ways to deal with certain situations.
the hardest part of the job is training other staff the process and the most enjoyable part is the daily challenges. – less

average day at work
specialst sales consultant (Current Employee), stockton – January 20, 2013
Pros: getting recognition for sales and paid incentive
i work in a group of 11 people, we are all close yet have very different characters. On a typical monday its usually busy so i get in early and set my targets, plan my day to prioritise my load. We have a team meeting usually before lunch and discuss any latest changes, business communication and performace. We share idea's hints and tips from sales – more... and feedback we'v recieved from management on our work.
The hardest part of the job I would say is probably dealing with angry/difficult customers. The best way we overcome this is just to remain calm and have empathy towards those customers. The most important thing is to treat all customers fairly and always start fresh on a new call. Overall I enjoy talking to customers, going the extra way to help them and offering upsell where possible. – less

Productive and friendly workplace
Customer Service Officer (Current Employee), Birmingham – December 28, 2012
Pros: flexible
Cons: long hours
A day as a Customer Service Officer consisted in meeting various customers from all walks of life, and being able to build a rapport. I learned a lot about communication with both customers and peers, and the way in which retail is managed.
The most difficult part of the job was adhering to targets set e.g. referrals for Customer Advisors to sell products, – more... tailored to the customer's needs. The most enjoyable part of the job was working in branch, in a somewhat 'family' environment; good balance between fun and pressure to drive me to attain goals and targets. – less
