Hard work but benificial
Customer Service Assistant, Front of house (Former Employee), Coffee Bar & Restaurant – October 11, 2012
Pros: friends made, lunch given and learnt many new skills.
Cons: short days/shifts.
Any week could vary. Having such a small team meant that you needed to be prepared to take on several responsibilities in a day. I was trained to do a wide range of things and gained skills in the kitchen such as preparation of food and knife skills. On the coffee bar I was trained to use a commercial coffee machine and the tills, as-well as how to – more... talk to costumers and serve behind the hot counter in the restaurant. As I worked for a company within a company there were so many faces I would see everyday, having great relations with customers and staff meant an enjoyably fluent day. – less

Poorly managed company
Junior Project Manager (Former Employee), Farnborough – September 10, 2012
Was hired for a role and promised training. This never materialised, and was subsequently dismissed due to budget cuts in the department.

Professional work place
PA to MD of Intellectual Property (Former Employee), Farnborough, Hampshire – May 7, 2012
A typical day at work would be:-

Extensive diary management
Produce & distribute Minutes of Meeting
General correspondence & Power Point presentations
Travel arrangements
Expenses

The management were all professional and approachable.

My co-workers were all helpful and enjoyable to work with.

The hardest part of my job was re-scheduling the diary, – more... to prevent meetings clashing.

The most enjoyable part of the job was diary mangement and organising Offsties. – less

Qinetiq
Video Editor (Former Employee), Kennedy Space Center, FL – May 4, 2013
Pros: awesome resources, travel, unique and exciting work environment
Cons: unpredictable work hours, long work hours
My overall experience at the Kennedy Space Center (contracted under Qinetiq) working in the media department for NASA Public Affairs, was a wonderful experience for several reasons. I had the opportunity to work with a talented production team and I got to be a part of history by supporting the shuttle program in its final days. A typical day at work – more... could include the following but not restricted to; editing projects under the direction of producers, driving out to any given location to shoot video at a moment’s notice, preparing lower thirds on the Chyron graphics generator, setting up for live shows, and composing quality still photography for the Kennedy Space Center’s webpage. In this type of environment I was able to further hone in on my editing skills but also become well rounded in the production world.
As a participating member of a group of varying talents and personalities, my co-workers new when to have fun and brought a unique comradery to the studio. They always exhibited the utmost professionalism and always managed to be entertaining in the process. Through years of working together many of us became tight knit and efficient, but this didn’t exclude us from our fair share of challenges. As is for most jobs, differences in opinions, beliefs, and ideals can sometimes be quite challenging. Overtime and lack of sleep accompanied with Florida mosquitoes and stress, sometimes meant no one was happy.
The most enjoyable part of my employment, aside from the incredible people, at the Kennedy Space Center was the opportunity to be creative through the editing process. I particularly enjoyed the amount of footage and resources that was available to me for use, and the collaboration of media that existed between the different space center locations. Another honorable mention would be traveling to California where our team would prepare and cover the live launch shows and experience something out of the, “ already fascinating,” ordinary. My time at the Kennedy Space center was invaluable to me and I will take those experiences and memories with me where ever I go. – less

Strong pay, high on work-life balance, lower standards for all else.
Analyst (Current Employee), San Diego, CA – April 9, 2013
Pros: higher than average pay, lots of flexibility
Cons: non-inspirational coworkers / mid-level leadership
All companies have their pros and cons. At this phase in my life the pros / cons balance provided by this company has been ideal for my schedule and needs. That said, the company has a hard time with setting, maintaining and following through with quality standards and seems to have a little trouble "keeping it together".

Previously 3H Technology and then purchased by QinetiQ
Sr. Quality Assurance / Quality Control Analyst (Former Employee), Reston, VA – March 26, 2013
The first 6 years i worked for 3H Technologies and the company achieved tremendous goals such as ISO Certification in which I was a Lead Auditor. As well we achieved a CMMI acreditation. 3H Technologies was a very well balanced and efficient company. It was then bought by QinetiQ NA. The transistion was not well planned. New Management from QinetiQ – more... had a difficult time associating with current management. raises were not based on performance or effort. They offered very little which destroyed company moral. – less

Wrong person
Senior Accountant (Current Employee), St. Charles, Missouri – February 4, 2013
I'm one of the employees that will be losing my job due to the consolidation of efforts to Virginia so Job Security is nonexistent, unless you are in Virginia. I can tell you that this use to be a fantastic place to work now that our upper management is located on the East coast - the mentality seems to be that work comes first and foremost.

No room for advancement and micro management
Electronic Publications Analyst (Current Employee), Huntsville, AL – November 25, 2012
Pros: work schedule
Cons: micro management, no advancement
The project I work on, we get treated like robots and only certain people obtain training to advance their careers. The company would rather lay you off, than find you a position in the company. Leadership is very micro management oriented. We even get emails on how to act when customers come. Health benefits are not in line with others companies in – more... area.

Only positive is that they offer a very flexible work schedule. – less
