Massive Changes
Financial Specialist (Current Employee), Harlow – May 2, 2013
unfortunately there is not a typical day anymore at the post office. With upper management looking to franchise off over 70 Crown offices and offering voluntary redundancies is a very unstable and poor working environment

Counter Assistant (Current Employee), Saltash – March 5, 2013
Pros: working environment
Cons: not enough hours
A typical day in work is maintaining a professional conscientious approach to the job in hand but also enjoying what the job has to offer. No two days are the same and each day brings its own challenges and rewards. There is something new to learn all of the time and for me personally and dealing with customers on a one to one is the most enjoyable – more... part. The most difficult part is when customers have had to wait when extremely busy and can be quite rude to you but fortunately my Welcome Host course kicks in and I smile politely and carry on with my duties. I enjoy working as part of a team and keen to learn more regarding "back office". – less

Productive and good working environment
Manager (Current Employee), Falkirk – February 8, 2013
The Post Office is a great place to work as there is always something exciting happening. On a day to day basis I provide customer with information on products and services they maybe interested in and matching services to their needs. Before starting here I had no idea what the Post office had to offer and during my time here I have learned a vast – more... amount regarding all types of services available to customers. This Post office is a family run business. The hardest part of this job is keeping up to date with new services and changes to existing services to ensure correct information is always given to customers. The most enjoyable part of the job is providing the community with a vital service. – less

It was an amazing job and a fun place to work I am glad I had the chance to learn and gain new skills.
Cashier (Former Employee), Erdington, Birmingham. – January 18, 2013
Pros: fair and easy to get along with work partners and employers.
Cons: part time shift and was only for the summer.
A typical day at the post office was mainly handling, receiving and with drawing money also sending and receiving post and parcels. I learned fast ways of cashing up, also how to use the computer systems set up in post office's, also I learned a bit of geographical knowledge through sending parcels. The management team were great, they were fair and – more... worked well and hard to keep the employee's and customers happy. The hardest part of the job was sending parcels because there were many different ways that it could be done and i had choose which one would be best suited to every customer for example there are (First class, first class recorded, second class, second class recorded, international deliveries etc). The most enjoyable part of the job was the mathematical and number side to the job because I really enjoy maths. – less

Interesting yet challenging workplace
Counter Clerk (Former Employee), South East – January 15, 2013
Cons: stress, low wage
Advisable to start work at least 20 minutes before you are due in order to set up work station. Lovely co-workers and interesting management. There is a strong sales pressure which leads you to always try and get the customer to pay the most expensive option.

In order to thrive you must learn quickly as you are not simply helping customers send letters – more... and parcels but selling post office products or working under the DVLA and issuing passports. – less

learn something new everyday
Counter Clerk (Former Employee), Chiswick – January 12, 2013
Pros: office time work in office environment, professional type, enjoying bank holidays.
Cons: long hours
A typical day at work when you confront with customers having unacceptable behaviours.
But i have always learned new skills and expertise everyday from both good and bad situations.Everyday people come up with new questions and problems where we have to try and solve their queries which ends us with some new knowledge.
Co-workers were always good at – more... face and worst on your back. Have to be very carefully while working in the place as we are dealing with money all the time. But nevertheless not all of them are like that, some people were really nice and very helpful all the time.
The hardest part of the job is to convince stubborn customers.
The most enjoyable part is to meet new people everyday. – less
