A good employer with Dissapointing management.
Inbound Call Handler (Former Employee), Cobalt Business Park – March 28, 2013
Pros: peers, salary, opportunities to work abroad
Cons: distance from home, management, no bonus.
Whilst working at Orange we would start our day at 9 am however we would arrive at around 8.55 am to log onto our systems and make sure you were signed in by 9 am to keep up your good adherence. We would then have a ten minute daily briefing in which we would be told what we would be working on in the upcoming day. We would then go live at 9.10 am. – more... We would have a 15 minutes break in between going online and lunch. Lunch would be anywhere between 12 midday and 1 pm in which we would have a half hour lunch. We would then have another 15 minute break in the afternoon before finishing at 5pm however if you were still on a call you would have to make sure you finish that call to the best of your ability. Whilst working at Orange I learnt a lot about team work and having to work in a pressure environment with constant calls coming through with numerous different issues. I learnt to work in a team of 14 people as well as adapting to way that different people learn. I learnt that within a team you are going to have people you prefer as well as people you may not be great friends with however you have to put them issues behind you for the sake of the team and the work. The management at Orange was a bit of a issue as when we first become a team out manager did not fit the team so we had to put up with many temporary managers. Going in day after day not knowing who the manager was going to be. – less

Orange/EE
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), Cobalt Business Park – March 20, 2013
Pros: free beverages, reduced rate on mobile phones, quarterly bonuses.
Cons: sometimes difficult to access via public transport, certain managers do not support the frontline as well as they should, sometimes call queues meaning there is literally no time to pause for breath between calls.
EE has a lot of positive points, mainly the job security that the recent launch of the 4G network has brought as well as our continued success with Apple and their products. I have not been as active in looking for advancement or movement within the company as ideally I would have liked but this is due to working full time as well as attending college – more... two nights per week (and having a partner and two children). It is always easy to knock your employer but I do see the positives that working for EE allows me. I would mention that although I have no issue with my own manager I do consider the first two levels of management above me an area of weakness within the company and this can disappoint at times. – less

Two distinct identities
Customer Request Manager / Asset Manager (Former Employee), Slough – December 3, 2012
Pros: flexibility, working from home
Cons: long hours, over loading of work on too few staff
Working for the global arm of the company (as opposed to Orange UK) meant that decisions were taken by senior management based in France (France Telecom). The team decreased in size from 2009 due to redundancies and job reallocation. Nonetheless the team spirit and productivity was greater than other teams. I dealt primarily with major global clients – more... based in Switzerland. I learned to manage their expectations whilst maintaining good working relationships. – less

Productive and fun workplace
Sales Advisor (Former Employee), Durham – November 15, 2012
Pros: i get to listen to all of the new music releases, work in durham city where i can shop in my lunch break.
Cons: a quiet concesion, actual orange shop as well as all of the other mobile phone providers are 2 minutes away.
Working on a concession stand for Orange in a really busy and noisy HMV shop, my typical day at work would be to get in 30 to 45 minutes early, check the days promotions, prices and marketing, do all of the display changes, have a quick clean and polish then go and get the till from the safe.

As a key holder it is vital that I maintain and manage the – more... concession as though I am the Manager as I often work alone, unsupervised. As soon as I have the till, I check the float, then open the stand ready for my customers.

The stand is very quiet so I network around the HMV shop to find business. I do this my asking people who their mobile phone / broadband provider is, sometimes they are Orange customers and are happy that the concession is there as they were not aware of Oranges presence there. I will then have a chat about what they currently have, what they aspire to have and build up my sale, I will then take them to my concession and show them the latest promotions.

The hardest part of the job is in fact having to make Oranges presence known, customers are afterall shopping for DVD's, CD's, HMV products and can be off with me and at times very rude, so, I remain friendly and focused on my targets for the day.

The most enjoyable part of the job is that I am able to engage with my customers for longer periods of time, giving the best service as the concession is not busy I am able to show them live handsets and let them play with them, afterall I want my customers to leave with the best possible product. – less

Challenging and enjoyable
Sales Consultant (Current Employee), Tyne and Wear – October 24, 2012
Pros: flexible working hours
Cons: minimal opportunities
Everything Everywhere is a great company to work for. Flexible to suit lifestyle needs as well as very challenging to make the day fly by. A typical day would involve a brief followed by making getting the shop up to and above the standard expected. During the day involved selling to customer, answering queries and resolving complaints. I have learnt – more... how a large company can be so successful within a very competitive industry, how to manage a store, how to create a positive work place and how to maximise all opportunities within a sales environment. – less

Customer Service Representitive (Former Employee), Darlington – October 12, 2012
Pros: quarterly bonus
Cons: very hard to get holidays when you wanted them.
Answering calls,
friendly co-workers,
hardest part of the job was if there was a problem with the network that caused alot of upset customers phoning in as could be quite emotionally straining.
management depended on who your manager was due to different management styles, some were fantastic others were hard to work with.
most enjoyable part of the – more... job were the monthly meetings. – less

Productive
Customer Service Advisor (Current Employee), Dearne Valley, Wath – September 12, 2012
Pros: rewards for achiving
Cons: late shifts
A typical day involves basically just making payments, updating direct debits, resolving billing issues. I also case manage customers dealing with getting accounts re-connected and also getting their orders to go through smoothly, i learn new abilities every days, management is always avaliable and willing to help.
The hardest part of my job is being – more... able to get home at night as i finish at 11pm.
the most enjoyable part of the job is the satisfaction of helping customers and working individually and part of a team if needed – less

Working for orange
Sales supervisor/assistant manger (Former Employee), Hull – August 17, 2012
Pros: discounted mobile phone contracts
Cons: trainig courses as they were genarally quite far away
On a typical day i would open the store, ensure all office admin was ready for the day and submitted prior to opening at 9am, the rest of the day would consist of staff training, sales admin, working towards individual and store KPI's. Ensuring the shop floor was clean and presentable. Dealing with customer issues and sales. At the end of the day i – more... would double check all paper work and close down the store including all banking procedures alarm checks etc and ensuring the store is ready for the next day. I learned alot about time mangement and delegation to other members of staff as well as the responsibility of running the store in regards to costings etc

The hardest part of the job was ensuring KPI's we hit every month but this was also the most enjoyable part of the job as achvieving the KPI's was a great feeling and if i didnt, problem solving as to why was enjoyable as well – less
