On a day to day basis i was a switchboard operator for a government company. everyday i learned new skills, we had many different contacts in which i was trained, These incluse HMP, Rail, Natural England, and a 999 railway emergency operator. my co workers were very helpgul as we had to help each other out alot of the time. Olympics and Paralympics -retail team (Former Employee), London – April 26, 2013
Pros: expereince
Cons: position
In my last position, i was part of a retail team for Olympics and Paralympics 2012. I was asked to change the shift to the others session. I found i have a problem working with those team members. There is a problem at the beginning for me to communicate and work as a team. The team cooperation are different and so the pattern of work. In this case, – more... I tried to communicate more with my team leader and members to get understood with the situation here. The daily basis of every tent was different. Lastly, I successfully found a common ground and get along with the members. We manage to perform well to the customers in order to boost up the sales and give a good impression to them. – less

Productive, fun and a great experience.
Mail Sorter (Agency) (Former Employee), Royal Mail York – April 19, 2013
Pros: extra shifts when wanted and needed and tweaking the time when i start to suit me.
Cons: some shifts were'nt very long.
Manpower is a really good company to work with, they are supportive and friendly and they are very helpful when needed. I learnt a lot when i worked at Royal Mail, my co-workers were really nice and helped me if i needed it. The most enjoyable part of my job was the long night shifts as we all use to have a laugh and keep eachother laughing and motivated. – more... The hardest part of the job was leaving at the end of the job as everyone was so friendly and supportive and the managers had a laugh and kept you on your feet as often as they could. I learnt how to work in a warehouse environment and how to sort mail and the hard work that the Royal Mail workers go throughout the day and night there. It also gave me the experience to be able to apply to work in other similar roles such as mail sorting and warehousing. – less

Great Job, learning experience and team
Support worker (Current Employee), London merton – April 16, 2013
Pros: was local, worked with great team
Working in a residential home that is made up of several flats, I support a number of
adults with learning disabilities and or mental health disorders with everyday tasks.
A major part of my role is to encourage the service users to be more independent and
teach the service users skills for everyday life such as hygiene, cooking, relating to people,
money – more... management etc. I also assist with medication rounds and look after each
persons general wellbeing.

I learnt more about mental health conditions and learnt and enjoyed communicating and supporting people with different abilities. – less

Perfectly good job, not enough hours
Warehouse Operative (Current Employee), Leeds – February 15, 2013
I was repeatedly promised five shifts a week by Manpower, but I've been working one or two on average. I had to sign back on to JSA with up to 16 hours work per week but, since I rarely earn more in a week than JSA pays and your wages are deducted from your benefits, I am effectively working for nothing as I still get the same £71 per week whether I – more... work or not. This is extremely disheartening.
If I had been told plainly that this was a zero hour contract I wouldn't have taken the job, in fact I would have been financially better off had I stayed on benefits! Myself and many others have been put in worse off positions than when we started by Manpower due to their misrepresentation of this work. It's very irresponsible and has put me in some debt. For these reasons I'm afraid I can't recommend Manpower as an employer. – less

cab give good fun work, wage is not great,
driver (Current Employee), reading – February 13, 2013
Pros: outside on the road
Cons: wage
A day or work can be from transporting a vehicle some were or multidrop deliveries. Everyday you gain exsperiance learn better customer service skills and get better at the job you do each day. the management is ok in the company it could be better by asking you the night before the day they want you to work but always polite and understandable. The – more... hardest part of the job can be if you get stuck in traffic because of rush hour or an acciedent and you are makeing deliveries, is the catching up on the time you lost because of it. The most enjoyable part of the job is the driving and meeting new people – less
