its all about the money not care
Support Worker/Carer (Current Employee) –  Gringley on the Hill, Nottinghamshire31 October 2017
terrible company does not care about its employees in the slightest
rubbish rate of pay (when you actually get paid)
the service users get more entitlement to how much there paying into the company by presenting more challenging behaviors leaving the other service users couped inside all day.. you have to basically live there to bring a half decent wage home but make sure you go through your time sheets as its probably under what your owed. no pay enhancments for the unsociable hours you work and most likely not even a thankyou
Pros
service users
Cons
too much to count

Fractious...
Support Worker (Former Employee) –  Boughton, Nottinghamshire30 October 2017
This project is blighted by staff disharmony, and the work environment is the most toxic I've experienced. Worse still, service users spend little support time in the community, so there are few opportunities to escape (!) the confines of the building.

Underpaid, working hours are unbareable but having to work them due to lack of pay.
No rewards or thanks and just thinking of their own pockets.
Management is horrendous, staff dont care no more due to lack of appriciation and guidence.

Lifeways are a good company to work for. They will work round you as much as they can. They are understanding. There is always someone talk to if you need to.

Team Leader (Former Employee) –  Chester, Cheshire21 October 2017
Cannot begin to explain on this....Diligent care workers on £7.50 an hour who after time lose their will to live from management who swap a single brain cell between them...I urge any service users looking into this company to not only steer clear but to campaign to have it shut down along with the greed and theft managerial people with it.

it is ran by incompetent management ruining staffs careers
Support worker (Current Employee) –  Staffordshire20 October 2017
management not dealing with problem staff that fall asleep on night shifts, sickness ( same staff ) never pulled up about it, moved to other houses and still doing the same things... bullying and harassment of staff to work here there and everywhere at a drop of hat when they are short of staff due to sickness
Management not using disciplinary procedures and legislation effectively to deal with problem staff..
management being deogatry and treating staff awfully, making stories up and getting them investigated with no evidence to back anything up...
staff being blamed for things they haven’t done but clearly don’t deal with problem staff..
Pros
Great to support clients create a better lifestyle
Cons
avoid long hours and pay

Bullying culture
Support Worker (Current Employee) –  Chesterfield, Derbyshire12 October 2017
Poor company to work for. There is a bullying culture amongst the team leaders and manager especially SB and KAM. When you complain it falls on deaf ears. Constantly have you stuck on shift and agency use is in nearly all the services. Only older staff who are pally with manager have set shifts. Still refusing to pay minimum wage through the night even though DCC are paying it to Lifeways.
Pros
Service users
Cons
Poorly paid bullying culture

typical day
Support Worker (Current Employee) –  Liverpool12 October 2017
A typical day being a support worker consists of supporting individuals and their needs; personal care, finances, and positive behavior.

I have learnt how to manage and administer medication, management need to improve communication between teams, hardest part of the job is coming across challenging behavior.

The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the smile on the individuals at the end of the day, knowing that you have supported them in the best way for them.
Pros
offers overtime and training

£23 for a sleep

Great place to work
Support Worker (Former Employee) –  Leeds28 September 2017
I worked at Cornmill House in Seacroft, Leeds. Brilliantly led caring team I worked with. In the short time I was there I built up a fantastic working relationship with both staff and residents alike. The only reason I left was to care for a family member.
Pros
Great atmosphere, efficiant training, good career prospects.

Awful company from the top down. Worst paid, expect you to relocate, no progression, management seem to be all relate in some way.
Mental Health Support Worker (Current Employee) –  Preston, Lancashire30 August 2017
Awful pay rate, less than McDonald's for a professional position. management in positions where they clearly shouldn't be. People drinking on the job don't get sacked, just relocated. Management seem to all be related to each other. Staff turnover is rediculous. Took 4 months for me to start the job, some people have been left waiting 6+ months after getting the job due to a complete disconnect between the office and staff.

There are some lovely people who work here but unfortunately they get trodden on a daily basis. Constantly lied to about courses over the last two years. Have to buy your own paper to print off documents required for the job. Feels more like you're self employed without the benefits to claim anything back.

Complete joke and shambles of a company who just see vulnerable clients as an asset for the company to rinse them dry of money whilst also keeping staff from progressing with drawn out empty promises of progression. I highly recommend staying clear of this company. The CQC reports speak for themselves for both Lifeway's and future directions.
Pros
None
Cons
Pay for own supplies, minimum wage for professionals, corrupt management, no fuel allowance, buy own tea coffee milk etc, not flexible, expected to work overtime even when working over 50 hours a week
