An enriching and rewarding company to work for.
Customer Service Employee (Current Employee), Waitrose Daventry, Northamptonshire – February 17, 2013
Pros: i am a partner of the company with many advantages.
Cons: there are no cons to this job.
A typical day involves providing an excellent and helpful service to all customers. My role within Customer Services involves till operation, lottery machine operations and customer care. From this position I have learned cash handling, how to deal with customer queries and build an excellent rapport. I have built a great relationship with the Management – more... and co-workers who are extremely hepful and informative which makes Waitrose a wonderful working environment. I have had no reason to find any part of the job difficult and enjoy every task that is put in my direction. – less

Productive and Enthusiastic Work Place
Supervisor (Current Employee), Waitrose Upminster – January 6, 2013
Pros: 25% discount at john lewis, 12.5% discount at waitrose
On a typical day at work if i am on an early shift I arrive half an hour before the store opens in order to carry out opening procedures. I run the section for 9 hours for the entirety of my shift organising lunches, tea breaks and rotas. If I am on a late shift I will run the section and stay for half an hour after the store closes in order to carry – more... out closing procedures.
From working at Waitrose and for the John Lewis Partnership I have learnt about the value of co-ownership and the importance of working alongside others to achieve goals together.
The management at Waitrose are very influential. They are always on hand to help with day to day tasks such as sitting on a till to serve customers if we are busy. They regularly give us feedback on how we are doing and review our pay 6 monthly to suit our abilities and achievements.
My co-workers are a joy to be working alongside. Working for John Lewis and Waitrose we are all 'Partners' which means we all have an equal share in the business. This gives every Partner the drive to make our company a success and ensure the customers have an enjoyable experience in our store.
The hardest part of the job is dealing with angry/frustrated customers.
The most enjoyable part of the job is putting smiles on customers faces. – less

Very sociable workplace
Purchase Ledger Assistant (Former Employee), Stevenage – August 3, 2012
Pros: great restaurant with low prices, big staff discount, gym and social areas.
Cons: too many managers but none about when you needed one!!
i was only with the company for a short term contract but found it very easy to fit it. John Lewis is a company that makes sure its staff are 100% happy in there work and organise lots of social events to boost moral. My day at work was busy and fast paced as it was a call centre based accounts department, i learned how to deal with calls and queries – more... fast and efficient, there were too many 'managers' in my opinion for the simplest of roles but overall my co-workers were brilliant and if the company hadn't relocated i would have jumped at the chance to stay. – less

customer service assistant (Former Employee), dartford, kent – July 1, 2012
Pros: lots of over time, friendly colleagues
Cons: no progression, no team building
a typical day would be shoved onto a till doing nothing all day, management would not do anything apart from sit in the corner chatting, as an under age cashier always needed someone around to put alcohol through for me, but instead everyone seemed to disappear, hated work, one benefit was the nice bonus in march though and the friends I made who unfortunately – more... still work there – less

Customer Service Assisitant (Current Employee), Central London – June 10, 2012
Pros: discount on luches
Cons: low wages
Waitrose is a fun place place to work, working there has given me the chance to work on my own or with others. Using initiative is a great skill to demonstrate I have to put this in practise each day at work. Deliver excellent customer service is what I do best. Each day work I have to liaise with suppliers inregards to stock within the shop. The hours – more... are very flexible and managable and allows you to have a life outside work. Having a relationship with the customers are one of the best aspect of the job, they feel very special when you address them ny their name and also when they are greeted with a smile. The benefits are great one of the best thing. However the wages are low considering the location is Central London – less

Productive Company with Amazing Core Values (British Company)
Warehouse Assistant (Former Employee), Milton Keynes, England – February 7, 2013
Pros: job security, company meetings, work acknowledgements
Cons: no cons, honestly
A typical day was a 8 hour shift that included picking products for distribution to stores and online customers plus weekly meetings with the department team that includes discussing matters and ideas of the company.

Working as a team to put ideas together to improve the work environment stabilizes the health of the company.

The management are some – more... of the most amazing people to become managers. They listened to me and positively motivated me by trying to understand me as person and a team-player rather than just a number.

Amazing co-workers who along with me put ideas into the company that have come to life.

To talk to my co-workers and managers about our work and day like good friends. – less

Sales Assistant (Former Employee), London – February 3, 2012
Pros: good bonuses
Cons: not much scope for career development
The partnership employment policy seeks to have equality amongst all members of staff regardless of their level. In reality its dependant on the individuals but the message is communicated.
