OK firm to work for.Kept busy and the time flies by.
Warehouse assistant (Former Employee), Winsford,Cheshire – February 24, 2013
Cons: the recruitment agency h&m use in winsford primetime recruitment are extremely unreliable
I worked at H&M warehouse in Winsford during 2012 through local employment agency Primetime Recruitment.I enjoyed working at H&M and would have accepted more work there had Primetime bothered to contact me.I was contacted one Sunday morning asking me if I could be in work in the next half hour - unfortunately this notice was a little late coming as – more... I wasn't even in the same town and as I don;t drive would have been impossible.I did offer to get into work a little later but was told not to bother. After I turned down this one shift I wasn't contacted again even though Primetime still advertised that staff were required at H&M.I contacted Primetime several times later and was always told the same thing-"we will contact you when we require you" - unfortunately the call never came. I would definitely work again at H&M but as long as they employ a new agency otherwise I don't think I would get the chance.
Thumbs up for H&M thumbs down for Primetime Recruitment - a real letdown who seem to want to keep you continually hanging by a thread. – less

Hard, sociable but very biased
Supervisor (Former Employee), Manchester – September 24, 2012
Pros: good pay, good routines, great name on cv
Cons: biased management, long hours
I worked for H&M for 4 and a half years, beginning part time as a student. After I went full time I was promoted to a supervisor, but that is where the progression stopped. The management team were very catty and it often felt like a popularity competition for management roles. I trained to be a department manager but never had any thorough or complete – more... training leaving me high and dry when my manager moved on. I moved companies, and am now getting my own store after a year of hard work. – less

DONT APPLY.
Sales Advisor (Current Employee), Holyoke, MA – May 19, 2013
I have worked at the Holyoke location for a few years now and it is not a good choice of employment. As a new hire you will only get a maximum of 10 hours per week usually less than that, as a veteran we only get a maximum of 20 hours. The environment is very unprofessional and negative, and this is all due to the poor leadership. Do not make this your – more... main source of income, you will not be satisfied.

**This is not a reflection on the company as a whole, I know many people from other locations who enjoy their job. – less

Fun workplace with many promotion opportunities
Sales Associate/Cashier (Current Employee), Chicago, IL – May 7, 2013
Pros: paid holidays, including your birthday
A typical day at work consists of working at a fast pace to ensure you are providing exceptional customer service while maintaing the sales floor. Working at H & M, I have developed interpersonal and team-oriented skills. I work with people of all different backgrounds and personalities, so I consider myself to be diverse. Their is non hierarchy structure – more... in terms of management-- "we are all one team". However, you are still expected to put your best foot forward and work with a sense of urgency. Managers are only there to guide you but you are in charge of your own development. The hardest part about my job is having to prioritize between tasks but doing so, I learned to multi-task. The most enjoyable part of the job is interacting with different people and making someone have a pleasant shopping experience at H & M by assisting them with their choice of garments. – less

Great job overall but that Atlantic Station store is horrible
Sales Advisor (Former Employee), Atlanta, GA – February 25, 2013
Pros: first look at new items, discount
Cons: management, long hours, favoritism
I worked at H &M for a year in the Atlantic Station store and the turnover rate is VERY high. The favoritism is ridiculous in the store! Constantly had to work outside of availability, and stay well over closing time and if not you were documented. One minute late and you were written up but if you were an excellent closer or runner they looked the – more... other way, if not, oh well. Great fashion but if new items in store employees would hide them so they could have first dibs. I loved the job overall but the favoritism is too much, it makes you feel inadequate even when u are soing excellent. Managers have their fave employees cell numbers, which is wrong, and they hang out and think the other employees don't know. Plus drama, drama, drama. Too many associates "fraternizing" if you get that picture. – less

fast paced , fun and friendly!
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), Salem, NH – February 4, 2013
Pros: decent pay, oppertunity for growing
Cons: getting out late and the commute.
I gained alot more knowledge about retail; how things work. I enjoy working with my co workers. I would always spend a little time everywhere either in the cash register, the fitting room or providing customer service on the floor with our customers. My favorite part is helping out the customers and watching them leave satisfied. The mangers are so – more... understandable, they are always willing to work with you and any troubles or concerns. – less

fun workplace nice working with the different shipment of clothes
Sales Representative (Former Employee), Brooklyn, NY – February 1, 2013
Pros: discounts on clothes, growing with the company, improving customer service skills
Cons: short breaks, management
a typical day at h&m would start with me clocking in and getting a one minute for the day, which is a manager explaining the amount of money we made for that month and the goal were trying to make for the next month and also your break and what your function would be for that day. Working at h&m has taught me how to deal with the diferent types of customers – more... and questions they might have concering there size in certain jeans or how my opinion on how a blouse may look on them. working there really gave me a good feel for fashion and helped me express myself. The hardest part was staying the long hours for inventory and getting the store to look brand new after working a long shift. The most enjoyable part of working at h&m was seeing all the new shipments that was coming in and being apart of a well known company and watching them grow. – less

Sales Associates (Former Employee), kuwait kuwait city – October 25, 2012
Pros: good benefits
Cons: long hours of work
H&M is type of shop that you can say its a professional place to shop.usually we have hard time about the schedule of work.specially if there is a sale.because most people here in Kuwait they love to shop.i learned a lot of thing's while i am working in H&M as a sales associates.i enhance my skills being a costumer representative.about the management – more... of H&M i satisfied how they manage the shop and how they handle the staff and our co workers they are very cooperative and friendly in times of work or after working day.the hardest part of the job is how we can get along to the costumer to satisfied they needs and handling costumer complains.and the most enjoyable part of our jobs is when we satisfied our costumer and they have a smile in their face and when we achieve our monthly target sale. – less

Good environment to work in
Sales Advisor (Current Employee), Jersey City, NJ – October 23, 2012
Learned how to merchandise clothes for the customers. The managers and co-workers are the best, would not trade them at all. Hardest part of the job is closing, have to clean after the customers and leave really late at night. Enjoy this job because I love the people I work with and I get to help customers.

Not so great to work for "BEWARE".
Sales Advisor (Former Employee), Atlanta, Atlantic Station – July 29, 2012
Pros: hard work which leads to good work experience
Cons: unfair treatment of employees, high turn over rate, bad scheduling, rude managers
I worked at H&M in Atlanta, GA for almost a year. Although they have great benefits & the stores seems nice at times the management can be very biased, unclear, & unfair. Certain employees got privileges that others didn't, like being able to come in late & call out when they wanted. One of the store managers is so lazy all she does is sit in her office – more... all day & has a nasty attitude. I've witnessed managers treat employees & customers rude & like children. Time management is often off because they would schedule so many managers on staff to where it'll be 4 to 6 managers there & 2 leads & very lows numbers of actually employees to be able to run clothes & function the daily running of the store which made the closing of the store atrocious to where we'd have to stay until almost 1 or 2 in the morning to get things back to normal. Also they were so strict on timing, you have to be exactly on time & they only have one time clock working so everyone is racing to fight to sign in on time & if you're just a min late you get documented with no exceptions, which is extremely unfair because they will work you way over your shift. They don't really try to work with you on time scheduling which leads to a high turn over rate. I loved the company & what they stood for but if the actually district team knew how horrible Atlanta's store was ran they'd change many of things. – less

FUN CO-WORKERS
Sales Associate (Current Employee), New York, NY – July 5, 2012
Pros: free lunch sometimes gift cards and discounts
Cons: over work only certain employees.
H&M IS A FAST PACED ENVIRONMENT, I LEARNED HOW TO SET UP THE SALES FLOOR TO ATTRACT MORE CUSTOMERS, CREATE AND FINISH PROJECTS, DRESS MANIKINS, GIVE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WORK AS A TEAM. MANAGEMENT COULD BE BETTER, NOT EVERYONE IS ON THE SAME PAGE. COMMUNICATION IS NEEDED! THE HARDEST YET BEST PART OF MY JOB IS PLEASING THE CUSTOMERS, BECAUSE WITH – more... OUT THEM WE WOULD ALL BE OUT OF BUSINESS. THE MOST ENJOYABLE PART OF MY JOB IS MY TEAM. – less
