Keeps you on your toes
Field Service Area First Line Manager (Current Employee), Manchester – May 15, 2013
Pros: not stuck at a desk 9-5pm
Cons: everything can hit at once and you have to be on your game
There is no typical day as you never know what will happen. Working in the stream we do you have to run your personal team, run the team on shift with you and have to be aware of the public we deal with daily. Anything can happen and does. So you have your regular reports to run, PDR,one to ones, investigations, disciplinaries to carry out. Out into – more... the field to cary out customer cares visit or obs on your crew. You may have to go and assist with a job your self due to risk. You may have a car breakdown or stuck in bad weather, a crew member being attacked or robbed. A crew could be concerened about a subject hey have visited and you need to lace a duty of care call to the police.
A shift really can be the unknown and this is what I love.

We have just gone through redundancy consulations, these were hard to do a you know the people you are puttig at risk.
Most enjoyable when a member of staff says thank you, you have helped me or chnaged my way of thinking. KNowing I make a difference. – less

Easy Going Atmosphere
Security Guard (Former Employee), Nottingham – April 17, 2013
Pros: city centre position
Cons: temp contract
During the time I worked for G4S I really enjoyed the job role. Was a relaxed environment which I believe makes you more productive within your job duties.
I enjoyed working within a team and working within the public sector in the job centres.
Would like to get back with G4S as I do think they are organised and make life as easy as possible on employees.
I – more... have to say working with the public is not always an easy job but I do enjoy it as it is all I have ever done.
Got on really well with my colleagues and management and still keep in contact.
Was a shame only had a temporary contract as was a very good job! – less

Productive and fun environment
Steward (Current Employee), London – April 9, 2013
Pros: the customers and long hours
Cons: lunch
A typical day at work would involve being around thousands of new customers who are willing to embrace the experience and venue. This always allows me to be committed to helping them with any queries and assist as best as I can. I would always be more than punctual making sure I am ready for work and ready to commit to the daily targets.

I believe – more... that the best attribute I have learned has been my increase of confidence in being able to communicate with confidently with both customers and colleagues. In addition to this, I believe that being part of a team has undoubtedly assisted my confidence because we follow the aims and daily targets to get through the day successfully.

I believe that the hardest part of the job is dealing with unsatisfied customers because with accordance with the aims of the business; I feel responsible for their misery. To resolve such an issue, my acquired asset of being comforting and seeing it from their perspective would always make me go the extra mile to offer a helping hand to our customers.

The most enjoyable part of working for G4S is meeting new people. From the new customers who enter the venue, to the new colleagues, working here has given me a fantastic opportunity to work in an organization that is customer centric and values its employees. Being around thousands of new people has allowed me to heighten my customer service skills, confidence and ability to work in a team. – less

Awful, Stressful, No support.
Meter Reader (Former Employee), North – March 22, 2013
Pros: based from home.
Cons: poor wage, lack of support
Your seen as a number and that is it. Unobtainable targets set for bonus scheme, not enough hours in the day to meet weekly bonus target. Also don't expect this to be a full time career. It's a dying industry meter reading.

Secure Care Officer (Current Employee), Oakhill - Milton Keynes – February 25, 2013
Currently working as night staff, making sure young persons are secure due to safeguarding. Bonding with the young persons through conversation, playing games with them like blackjack, scrabbles, monopoly and other external activities.
I get on well with my colleagues and like working as part of a team which is very imperative as far as my type of job – more... is concern.
The most hardest part of the job is working with young persons from different background, religion, sex etc.
The most enjoyable part of the job is making a difference in the life of a young person through your encouragement. – less

Great Job - Not Enough Hours
Security steward (Current Employee), Glasgow – February 19, 2013
Pros: flexible
Cons: not enough hours
Usual shifts at Football games. Gained skills in crowd management. Good management and good spirited co-workers. Hardest part of the job is learning to ignore the comments of a rowdy football crowd, but it is not a problem. Most enjoyable part is the good interactions with the crowd and the co-workers.

UNFAMILY FRIENDLY
cashier (Current Employee), Glasgow – January 17, 2013
Pros: good wages and co-workers
Cons: bullying and favouritism towards male members of staff, unflexible hours for parents.
Very good wages and great friendly staff for the most part but managers are incompetent and let a lot of bullying go on by their senior staff members right under their noses with no consequences when reported, they also promote a family friendly environment and then do not follow through on this. The job is very interesting and you learn loads of new – more... skills on a daily basis although the perks of the job are unfortunately out weighed by the cons. – less
