Travelling the World
Cabin Manager (Former Employee), Abu Dhabi - United Arab Emirates – May 13, 2013
Pros: meeting different people, travelling the world, no routine
Cons: away from family, difficult to start a family and living out a suit case
I was a Cabin Crew Manager and we got our rosters one month in advance so we could plan our personal schedules according to that.
I flew international destinations ( working in all 3 cabins) and loved every minute of it.
Started with Etihad Airways in 2004 and they had just started the airline in Nov 2003 so it was amazing to grow within the company.
I – more... worked with 130 different nationalities and flew with guests from all around the world so at times it was challenging and I was put into difficult situations but as a leader I grew and developed myself so much from that. – less

Etihad is a growing airline and being a part of it makes me proud
Cabin Manager (Current Employee), Abu Dhabi, AZ – April 19, 2013
Flying has been my passion and Etihad airways, identfied my potential and recruited me from Gulf Air to join as a Purser and take responsibilty of handling a flight and crew.I love to interact with guests and take time in engaging with them, making them feel important and offering all the available resorces onboard to make sure they leave the aircraft – more... happy.Being a leader your colleagues look upon you so i make it a point to update myself with all ompany procedures and work along with my crew to achieve good results.Hard part of my job is the jet lag and odd timings but try to deal with it overtime. – less

Cons: short break
kinda pressure but in controlled when we start to do our task,no space for mistakes.

I can say the management there is great. you can feel the unity inside the working place, people workhard as a one team striving for succes.
the hardest part of the job – more... is that dealing with angry people.

Very Challenging job
Ground Services Agents (Current Employee), Abu Dhabi – March 31, 2013
Pros: food vouchers for the overtime we do
Cons: shift job - personal life to the minimum
Typical day at work is where we only have time to think about the guests standing in front of us to make sure that they are happy and satisfied with the service we give.Airport Operations and Managment is not an easy job,all we know while travelling is checking in and boarding but thats not all. Telling the guests that we will not be able to provide – more... them with what they ask for and then we know that they are not happy and we cant do anything about it.The most enjoyable part of the job is everyday you see something different and something new not repeating itself. In these six months I have learnt a lot and know will keep learning as it is just not the same scenario everyday. – less

Amazing opportunity, great perks and fabulous lifestyle
Cabin Crew (Current Employee), Abu Dhabi – March 13, 2013
Pros: meeting new people, travelling different countries, gaining new perspectives on other cultures and the accommodation
Cons: exhausting and tough on your body
Working for Etihad Airways has been one of the best experiences of my life and for that alone I am extremely thankful. Etihad provided me with the opportunity to meet, work and understand a multi national crew which has helped me to understand others needs and requirements. I have seen the majority of the world and explored places I never dreamed of – more... seeing.

Overall the management look after their staff, we have huge benefits with the job and from my experience my Performance Manager (whom is wonderful) is approachable, kind and available.

The flaws in Etihad are their progression/promotion opportunities as I believe they tend to give those opportunities to staff who have been there the longest instead of necessarily taking skills, talent and character into consideration. I believe that they are improving on this issue as I have seen many more promotions to date for people who have been there for less time based on recognition of their skills.

As far as my job as Cabin crew goes, I can honestly say my favourite aspect was talking directly to the guests, I found out so many of their stories whether it be just regarding their holidays or their life. It is very humbling to understand someone else's life and views. I also enjoyed being part of a new team for every flight and quickly established my role as a "motivator" for everyone else. I have met some wonderful people, crew and guests that I will remember fondly. There have been some people that are hard to deal with but again I was always a person that would be used to deal with the bigger issues surrounding complaints as I am a very diplomatic person and calm under pressure when some people may not be. – less

Cabin senior Role
Cabin Senior in fase of Cabin Manager training (Former Employee), Abu Dhabi – December 17, 2012

In summary the cabin senior will:
the primary purpose of this role:

• Report to the cabin manager as part of the overall crew complement
• Be responsible for guest satisfaction in coral economy
• Resolve customer issues that crew are not able to address themselves

Several benefits are expected in areas including safety compliance and standards,
consistent service delivery, customer care, leadership, and overall crew performance. Here
are a few examples:
• On time performance: IFS delays due to passenger refusal to take their seats amount
to approximately 35 hours in the past year. It is estimated that these can be reduced with
better decision making and supervision in the cabin.
• Operational performance: If a cabin manager becomes sick or incapacitated away
from base the cabin senior will be operate as cabin manager and bring the aircraft and
guests back to base. In extreme situations the cabin senior will also be prepared and able
to operate in other positions.
• Safety: The cabin senior will be the dedicated deputy for the cabin manager and trained

manager duties, safety and service, during the cabin manager’s rest breaks. In case of
cabin manager incapacitation or sickness the cabin senior will take over the cabin manager

motivate the coral economy team to improve service standards and consistency. They will
be accountable for the service delivery in coral economy cabin.

and dedicated leader the level of service offered is variable. The cabin senior will be
trained to manage, lead and to ensure excellent teamwork – less

Perfect job =Perfect days!
Flight Attendant (Former Employee), Abu Dhabi, AZ – December 8, 2012
Wakeing up with a smile on my face for a flight to Nepal, that even thought will take the whole day and evening, it is a new destination for me, so a chance to meet new wonderfoul persons, and culture! My surprise to meet on board a full cabin with men only, workers, hard workers, that are so smiley and excited because it
s their first time to fly and – more... seeing an aircraft inside and experience flying. They were very noisy, takeing pictures, of them with the aircraft, of us, even thought they didnt ask permission, it was my first experience like this, surrounded by 300 hundred of hard workers from Nepal, so it was a bit scary at the begging, but for some reason, their happines, their joy of being around us made me forget about my fear, and it turn out to be a great flight, with many humanity lessons for me! – less

sensitivity of culture awareness could gain respect to reach goals
Flying attendant (Former Employee), Abu Dhabi – October 19, 2012
Pros: accommodation provided
Cons: lots of turn arounds results to bad income
Thanks to my flying experience of 12 years and 11 months as a cabin crew. Mostly there is much different when we working onboard and basically its depends on destination. Some destinations they have their own common situations. A situations that need your expertise to deal with. Normally i just use whatever skills i have to settle besides advices from – more... other colleagues to get a strong team work. Here, we need a culture awareness and respectful attitudes to discuss to get the problems solve. My previous company was Malaysia Airlines and already establish as a strong professional 5 star airline in the world. Etihad Airways is very new in the airline industry and still trying to promote and build its own image. Basically Etihad Airways really need ex-crew or ex-professional in some department to be their back bone to reach their goal besides hiring mostly the fresh employee. Working with new joiners is much to much harder then the ex-crew and this is one of the factor why its hard to reach the company goal. With the ex-crew they work independently and just base on the standard procedures of the company as a reference. The enjoyable part of this job is traveling, and sometimes we will missing the place that we are have not rostered to in months besides having colleagues from different nationalities. Some other nationalities they are not open to have different race of friends but regardless they need to accept other nationalities as their colleagues to have a nice flight. – less

Fast pace work environment constantly changing and moving forward to achieve more.
Manager Customer Services Training (Former Employee), Abu Dhabi – September 26, 2012
Pros: travel benefits, excellent health insurance schemes, education allowances for your children, company provided accommodation and a tax free salary
Cons: long hours, limited opportunities for personal development outside of what is on offer in the academy.
A typical day include a lot of networking and meetings.
I learnt to appreciate diversity within a workforce and the value it can add to your team and organisation.
Management comes from accross the globe with a wealth of experience in many different industries.
Co-workers are mostly pleasant, professional and working together to achieve a larger aim.
The – more... hardest part of the job is the long working hours and the 24/7 nature of the industry as well as being creative with limited resources available to you.
An ambitious company who has won many awards and who is always striving to do better and accomplish more. – less

productive and usual office stuffs
Cabin Planner (Current Employee), Abu Dhabi, UAE – July 13, 2012
Pros: free tea
Cons: time pressure
usual office stuff where i search for new defects deferred in the system, update it, put the part number and instruction required to rectify the defect and plan it with sufficient ground time.
I gained knowledge in working my way around CMRO system.

Management is good, sometimes we get 4 days on and 4 days off, 2 days, 2 nights and 2 days off. depends – more... on the season but we get a lot of shifting schedules. They monitor defects trends really well.

I guess the hard part of the job is when the sentence composition of the defect is unclear and i have to check the actual defect in the aircraft, then if the part required is not in the IPC, i will have to search for Engineering Order or Service bulletins for that particular part required. It will take more time than the other usual defects that can be determined easily in AMM, IPC and CMM.

The fun part is when my co-workers joke around just to reduce the stress and pressure of delivering the work packs on time. – less
