Pros: learning management styles, problem solving, multi tasking, being positive.
Cons: long hours, little rewards, minimal help from higher management
A typical day is arriving at 7:30am and working through until 6pm at the earliest without much of a break.
I currently work as an Assistant Manager at the Haywards Heath office. The opportunities to progress up to management are quick if you sacrifice many hours and don't mind stepping over more experienced members of your team. However once you are
– more... at management level you are waiting for the person above you to either leave or progress, and in the current job market, neither of these are happening quick enough. People, including myself, are stuck doing the same job day in day out, with little reward and a not so very bright future.
I enjoy working hard, and I have learnt many things about myself I didn't know before such as my man-management style, pleasing internal and external people in equal measures and being a strong positive manager to work for in a friendly and approchable manner.
The parts I don't enjoy about this job are vast and range from how higher management treat and speak to the staff that work under them to the sacrifices we are made to make in order to finish the job. Such as working through the night to deliver cars because we are short staffed and help isn't going to come.
In summary, I have enjoyed my time with Enterprise, but feel it is time I found a new challenge, and one with a more positive future. – less
