Productive and Enjoyable
Risk Management Trainee (Current Employee), Old Kent Road – May 12, 2013
Pros: discount on the rentals
Cons: long hours of driving
A typical day at work is adding up and updating our expenditure in petrol from the previous day, updating the board with regards to employee sales, processing mitigation forms for non-fault customers, reporting damage, opening and closing contracts for retail, corporate and insurance customers, delivering and collecting cars to corporate and insurance – more... customers, encouraging potential business with new and existing customers, building rapport with clients and evaluating risks between customers regarding age, gender and type of customers. I learnt how to be patient and exercise patience, time management, pitching with regards to sales and how to evaluate and minimise risk. The management at Enterprise are really helpful and really do encourage progression. They are responsible for teaching me all i know and i have learnt a lot being under their supervision. My co-workers are great too. The working environment at my branch really encourages me to want to get up and go to work. The hardest part of the job is dealing with customers who cannot differentiate us from their insurance company, talking to customers about damage that they have made to our vehicle and the long hours of driving. – less

enjoyed working here despite the cons
driver/prep (Former Employee), hamilton – March 6, 2013
Pros: good team work friendly staff
Cons: expected to work in all weather but did not supply wet weather clothing.
Hardest part of the job - working in wet weather with no waterproof clothing.
the most enjoyable part of the job - being out and about driving on a daily basis picking up and dropping off customers.
co-workers - got on well with all my co-workers.

Fun place to work
Management Trainee (Former Employee), Bolton, Manchester Rd – December 18, 2012
Pros: dealing with customers, setting up new accounts, sales and marketing.
Cons: longer than advertised hours with no overtime paid. lack of training.
Enterprise was a fun place to work and I loved dealing with customers and exceeding their expectations of what the car rental experience can be about. Prior to my arrival the best customer service satisfaction score at my branch was 80%, whilst I was there we exceeded 89% month after month and won many internal awards.

I learnt how to engage in marketing – more... and prospect for new business, setting up many new accounts in the process. All trainees are exposed to the financial side of running a branch from personel expenditure to daily auditing which taught me how a profitable car rental branch should be run.

The hardest part of the job was the knowledge that there would be no scope for using my language skills in the future, because the company decided no to expand into Europe. There were also no significant promotion opportunities beyond Branch Manager. – less

Great Company with excellent opportunites
Management Trainee (Former Employee), Northern Ireland – December 14, 2012
Pros: rewarded for achieving standards set
Cons: hours at work and travel up to an hour from home
Normal day dealing with customers both over phone and face to face, getting them booked into cars and completing contracts. Only here a short time so learning to manage costs, marketing skills and achieve sales targets. Senior management are really motivational but this attitude is not the same at branch level, which is a hard part of the job. That – more... and the working hours are a killer, and as a trainee your day is extremely repetitive. Enjoyable parts people are all of a similar age which is a plus, everyone starts at same level. – less

Educational business model
Branch Manager (Former Employee), Redhill – December 7, 2012
Pros: fast progression to branch manager, company car
Cons: slow career advancement
As Branch Manager of the Redhill location, I implemented working practices that were adopted nationwide. For example, I demonstrated to the Area Manager that fleet utilisation rates could be raised from 90% to 95% without an adverse effect to business operations and customer satisfaction. This helped generate revenue of over £1,400,000 and operating – more... profit of over £350,000 for fiscal year 2011 in my specific branch.

As a Branch Manager I mentored and helped develop seven of the fifteen management trainees, all of whom were promoted to assistant manager level. Moreover, I was one of only a handful of Branch Managers to have staff retention rates of over 90%. I achieved this by holding daily team meetings, appraisals, and the setting of individual goals and objectives. Besides the benefit of task completion, this process allowed one-on-one time to align staff’s objectives to the organisation’s philosophy of exceeding customers’ expectations and employee development.

My MBA based on leadership, strategy and risk has given me a deeper understanding of employee motivating factors and how creativity and leadership styles require a flexible management approach. This balanced with my excellent interpersonal skills mean I am a great communicator and motivator of teams with real quantifiable results. – less

High pace and fun workplace.
Car Valeter/Driver (Current Employee), Waltham Abbey – December 6, 2012
Cons: long hours
Cleaning cars for the customers and delivering cars to them. Sometimes it is needed to pick up a customer. This role has taught me much about team work, responsibility and work ethic. Furthermore my analytical, methodical and logical approach to problem solving has also greatly developed. My co-workers are very mice and friendly people. Almost all the – more... time work in high pace, unpayable overtimes, low wage. I get to ride cars like: Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes! – less

Extremely hard working environment with little rewards
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Haywards Heath – September 10, 2012
Pros: learning management styles, problem solving, multi tasking, being positive.
Cons: long hours, little rewards, minimal help from higher management
A typical day is arriving at 7:30am and working through until 6pm at the earliest without much of a break.
I currently work as an Assistant Manager at the Haywards Heath office. The opportunities to progress up to management are quick if you sacrifice many hours and don't mind stepping over more experienced members of your team. However once you are – more... at management level you are waiting for the person above you to either leave or progress, and in the current job market, neither of these are happening quick enough. People, including myself, are stuck doing the same job day in day out, with little reward and a not so very bright future.
I enjoy working hard, and I have learnt many things about myself I didn't know before such as my man-management style, pleasing internal and external people in equal measures and being a strong positive manager to work for in a friendly and approchable manner.
The parts I don't enjoy about this job are vast and range from how higher management treat and speak to the staff that work under them to the sacrifices we are made to make in order to finish the job. Such as working through the night to deliver cars because we are short staffed and help isn't going to come.
In summary, I have enjoyed my time with Enterprise, but feel it is time I found a new challenge, and one with a more positive future. – less

Hard work but right person can progress
Management Assistant (Current Employee), Milton Keynes – August 1, 2012
Pros: job security
Cons: extremely long hours
A surprisingly sales oriented company who do like to put the customer first, but be prepared to make sacrifices with the work life balance. The minimum week is 50 hours long and I have worked closer to 70 on many occaisions.

However you do learn quickly in a fast paced environment, and I now have very accomplished skills in customer service, sales – more... and fleet management. I am more organised, dedicated and a harder worker, as well as taking on much more responsibility and learning many management skills. – less

Provided invaluable training and development
Branch Manager (Former Employee), Ipswich, Norwich and Kings Lynn – June 14, 2012
Pros: excellent promotion opportunites in first 12-24 months
Cons: much more difficult to gain promotion after 5 years
The working hours are extremely long but for someone with little or no work experience, the training and opportunities Enterprise offer are exceptional. From being fresh out of university with no sales or management experience, I was taught all the basics and guided along every step of the way. For the right person you can make it to branch manager – more... within 12-18 months with many other benefits apart from the pay. It's a very friendly, busy and thriving business to work for were rewards are available for those willing to put in the effort. – less

Fun place to work where team work rules
Branch Manager (Current Employee), Daventry (amongst others) – May 11, 2012
Pros: good progression
Cons: long hours
Enterprise rent a Car gives employees the oppertunity to make buisness changing decisions on a day to day basis. The level of resposibility is fantastic and there is a a real culture wanting to do well. On a day to day basis there is the oppertunity for B2B sales, B2C sales, marketing to local accounts, bodyshops and dealerships. There is traning provided – more... on all areas of the business.
Upper management will support your decisions if it is the right thing to do for the business and customers. Time managment is pchallenging as there are so many things to do in one day. – less

Extremelly Fast Paced Environment with great development structure
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), San Antonio, TX – May 16, 2013
Pros: amazing work environment with awesome coworkers
Customer service is our way of life, but at the same time you are a salesman with a responsibility to explain the benefits to each customer of an intangible product which consists of protections for the Rental Car. Constantly having "yes" mentality, booking reservations, answering phone questions, while at the same time marketing to accounts to gain – more... business and better relationships, scheduling employees, developing employees. – less

Enterprise is a great company with alot of room for advancement and growth for individuals who love to sale. The company is sales driven and will supply the needed training for one to succeed and be successful. A typical day at work would consist of cleaning cars, checking in customers, getting cars oil changed, grounding recalls, reading the statement – more... and finding out ways to cut costs and drive revenue, dealing with customer complaints, focusing on leaving customers completely satisfied and last but not least sale, sale, sale. – less
