Our size, scale and sheer global reach sets us apart from everyone else in the food and support service market. In the UK & Ireland we employ over 50,000 people across nearly 7,000 sites from oil rigs, supermarkets, schools, business and industry, hospitals, sporting venues and fine dining through to Michelin Star standard restaurants.
This year we’re taking on 1,500 ambitious apprentices to help achieve that aim. We’ve got apprenticeships across the board, covering Food Service, Business Administration, Security, Cleaning, Front of House and Head Office.
We’re serious about offering young people real, credible career opportunities. So when you’ve finished your apprenticeship, you’ll be able to choose from a host of positions and divisions across our huge organisation. All we ask for in return is for you to share our dedication to outstanding, world-class services.
Over a two year period of discovery and development, graduates will embark on a journey to become the future leaders of our business, while being supported by an inspiring mentor from within the business.
In addition to being an integral part of one of the UK’s largest companies, your progression during the Graduate Programme will expose you to major clients, alongside a range of prestigious venues and leading national events including The Grand National and the impressive line-up at the O2.
WOMEN IN FOOD
Compass Group UK & Ireland launch "Women in Food"
The company has made a commitment to have female chefs form 50% of its workforce by 2020.
The company currently employs 4393 chefs, of which 1537 (35%) are female. This already exceeds the industry average of 18.5%.
Inflexible and long working hours in the traditional restaurant sector has made it a challenging career choice for women who wish to juggle a family life. However, contract catering offers an alternative with the ability to work shifts in a variety of fields, from schools to business and in healthcare and defence.
Compass is seeking to do more in a bid to attain gender equality in a male dominated industry through making an investment in learning and development for female chefs that currently work for the company and those who will be recruited. The company will also be reviewing working practices, to identify areas where shift work and flexible working hours are able to be introduced and further enhanced opportunities for development from entry level through to senior roles.
