No respect for staff from higher management
Store manager (Current Employee), Surrey – April 30, 2013
Pros: good staff discount
Cons: long hours, often without breaks and working on your own all day !
I have worked for Claire's for many years and it used to be a fun place to work and get bonuses and great salaries, most recently this has changed and find myself working all day on my own in store, they have now changed the bonus system making it nearly impossible to get a bonus, and my salary is one of the worst considering I manage the shop pretty – more... much on my own !
The workload is getting more and more and the higher management do not support their staff at all !!
I get spoken down to by my boss, and treated very rudely, luckily I do not see her that often !
I love the customer service aspect of my job and ear piercing, but feel that I could do with some more support
I am in the process of looking for another job as cannot cope with the stress of the workload I get !
Last week alone I did over 30 hours extra and did not get a penny for it, not happy !!! – less

Made the best of it
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Winnipeg, MB – June 9, 2013
I handled transactions, processed returns, pierced ears, and stocked shelves. Management was very weak, and unprofessional. My Co-workers were great to work with and I enjoyed coming to work because of them. Scheduling hours were ridiculous, and you never knew when you were going to loose your job.

Fun and Creative place to work!
Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Waco Tx – June 8, 2013
Pros: health insurance, discounts on merchandise
Cons: always on your feet in heels!
Assistant Manager, handled customer complaints, made daily sales goal, made sure every customer was given a basket when entering the store along with a sales promo. Have knowledge of computer equipment, cashier, answer phones, received merchandise, and adhered to the planograms that were given by corporate. I called in daily totals to district manager, – more... pierced ears and cartilages on babies, little children and adults, girls and boys. Deposited cash at the bank made change, opened the store, closed the store, handled day to day tasks.
Loved the 10 items for $10 sales!

Customer service
Store Manager, Regional Training Coordinator (Current Employee), Layton, UT – June 7, 2013
Pros: paid vacation and personal time, health and dental benefits for full time employees
Cons: long periods of standing with no break
A typical day at Claires consists of customer service, ear piercings, stocking and recovery of sales floor. We set our own floor sets and update product placement. Enforcing operation procedures to cut down on errors and loss within the store and company. We run individual store loss prevention practices to cut down on incidents of external and internal – more... theft. Open and closing of the store ensuring accuracy with deposits, balanced registers, and completed paperwork. Store generally runs with one to three people on duty. – less

Fun Workplace
Third Key Manager (Current Employee), Elizabethtown, KY – June 4, 2013
Everyday at Claire's you drive to sell merchandise. The members of management are phenominal. I adore everyone that I work with. The hardest part about working at Claire's is having to pierce small childrens' ears but that is also the most enjoyable part of the job, in my opinion, because afterwards they love their new earrings.

This company demonstrates poor leadership.
Acting Store Manager (Former Employee), Augusta, GA – May 22, 2013
Cons: short breaks and poor leadership
A typical day at work wasn't so bad however I didn't learn anything that I didn't know before I got there. My managers sucked because they didn't demonstrate good leadership. That is done by leading by example and they never lead by example. My co-workers kept me working there as long as I did; we had a great relationship. The hardest part of the job – more... was staying committed to such an awful company. The most enjoyable part of the job was leading my employees. – less

My outlook on Claire's is great atmosphere but can be alot of hardwork.
Sales Associate (Current Employee), Houston Tx – May 10, 2013
Pros: you learn good customer service skills.
Cons: no benefits and minimum wage pay.
The Claire's I work for is a very high volume store we have customers at all times of the day everyday of the week, so its always busy and always something to do. I've learned how to be social with customers and alot of customer service skills. As far as managment goes that stoes has been without managment for a while so we've pretty much been on our – more... own which has made me a better employee for the most part. We recently got a manger and I can say she's fair. My co-workers are all great we all have grown a friendship while working together. I Would have to say the most hardest part about working is not having time off to study for my classes or spend with family and friends because im always at work, but I've tried my best to balance out school and work. Also the pay I honestly dont feel like I get paid enough for all the hard work I put in at claires. The most enjoyable parts at claires for me is getting to talk to customers and help them find that exact thing their looking for, also the ear peircings I love knowing that I'm the reason little girls walk away smiling because they love their earrings. – less

An easying going team. Management and co-workers made the job enjoyable. The original training program wasn't very user friendly, but the recent updates are much better.

Assistant Manager (Former Employee), Chambersburg, PA – May 7, 2013

Working at Claire's is fun and exciting. Piercing ears, selling body jewelry, and so many fun accessories. Although, unless you are management the pay is not all that great.

Full Time Job
Assistant Manager (Current Employee), Schaumburg, IL – April 29, 2013
A typical day at work usually consists of customer service and any other key tasks that need to be met for a deadline such as planogram (rearrangement of the store) or markdowns. There is a lot of information I have learned since working for Claire's. From designs, important paperwork, to proper training; everything is a learning experience. Management – more... is the key to success. The general managers are amazing, knowledgeable, and fun. – less

Great place to work
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Starkville, MS – April 29, 2013
Pros: fun friendly environment
Cons: minimum wage, small store
Fun and friendly environment to work in. The store is small and can easily get over crowded so you really have to stay on top of organization and cleanliness.
