Pros: freedom, opportunities to earn extra..
Cons: poor basic wage, high expectations for low pay, really tedious after a few months...
What you make of been a meter reader depends largely on your circumstances for getting the Job in the first place and how desperate you are for a job, however most of the guys i speak to were made redundant from there last job....and that perhaps tells its own story.
The pro's are that it gives you a large amount of freedom to manage your own time,
– more... theres nobody (directly) telling you what to do, and there is a reasonable sense of security, that as long as you do the job ok...it will be there for the forseabale future....
But where to start on the negatives!.....The saying "you only get what ya pay for"...clearly doesnt resonate with these. They pay minimum (it is possible to earn extra bonuses), yet expect maximum. They will always claim you have'nt worked your hours, and will want you to do more....theres always issues with your wage/taxation/expenses....
Ultimately, if you NEED a job, and you want to get out and about, and can stomach the poor wage, give it a shot.
If you get bored easily (which really hits after a few months of doing it) and really want to work with others, and need to be paid more than the min wage....stay clear, it just isnt worth the aggro.
Probably wont be the worst job you'll ever have, but certainly wont be the best.
RE CIP i had little or no problem with them I thought they were helpful, this review is about the position as you dont actually work at the companies office, or with there employees. – less
